Okay. Maybe I'm late on this, but just in case I thought I'd say something here. I had an email sitting in my box for quite some time about being able to publish a book of my own poetry at low cost. Of course, I'm interested. The letter came from a Watermark Press. When I hit the link it sent me to an online information form to fill out and have free info. mailed to my home. There were no additional links anywhere on the webpage. (I had seen other emails and pages like this from Noblehouse publishing) So I went back to the email and at the bottom it says from poetry.com. Okay, I've published with them before, but I've never bought their ridiculously priced books or put in info about myself as it also costs. So I searched 'Watermark Press'. I hit a couple of the links, but nothing seemed relevant. I searched poetrylink.com (it was on the sender's address.) Also, keep in mind I'm doing all this from the hospital, so I have to search a site to be able to visit it. I don't have a box available to type an address and go directly to a site. That's why I searched poetrylink.com, I wanted to check the site out. However, the first site listed was not poetrylink.com itself, it was       report.com!!! All these reports came up about how badly they scamed people. I'm talking over 200 seperate reports from people from all over. The worst part is I just told an old man this very morning what a great site poetry.com is! It's all the same. Noble House, Watermark, poetry.com, poetrylink.com, and many other names. please, go to this site and see what I'm talking about! Now I must go smoke a cigarette with my poor little broken poet's heart.

Poetry.com is well known for their promises of "publishing" the poetic works of those who submit work to them.  While we might not agree with their principles and/or their ways, we also know that they will produce just what they promise.  We won't malign another poetry site for such practices - we do, however, hope that our members take great care and precautions when contributing to this or any other site.  Know the rules first, and you won't be disappointed in the end...

And above all, if you find you've made any bad choices, just learn from them and keep on writing...

I had a feeling poetry.com was a scam when i first recieved a mail notification of one of my poems being an "editors choice." I bought the redeculously priced book only to display at my graduation party and now i've just stopped paying attention to any reminders that they send.

feeling dumb,

Heya.. I watched on 20/20 awhile back that they submitted poetry from 1st graders to poetry.com, and they were all 'finalists'... if they paid for the book..
