Hi there,

I am currently calling for submissions of poetry/stories for a website for survivors of sexual abuse/assault and their supporters.

I currently have over 100 submissions of articles, poetry focused on the topic and others, and also short stories.

If you would like to submit any poetry/stories that you may have in support of survivors, please either use the "contact us" page on the site or email me at whitedovesnest@hotmail.com

The website is at http://www.whitedovesnest.com

(Please note: the site itself may be triggering to those recovering from sexual abuse/assault -- please be careful if this may effect you)

Thanks

Whitedove

Welcome to Passions!  Though not a victim myself, I understand this as I was married to a victim at one time and the circle of abuse that results.  I have to tell you I was quite surprised to see the name white dove, as there was another poetess on this site, WhtDove, who contributed her great spirit here while she was with us...we lost her to cancer last February -- if you have a chance, her poetry is inspirational (we are still blessed by it).  I had to rub my eyes, honestly when I saw your pen name....may your days here at PIP be as rich and rewarding as hers were.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I too am a poet - though not as accomplished as some people here.  I have seen some amazing poetry both at this site and my own.

I am glad you are aware of the issue that faces so many people. I hope to create some awareness and give people an outlet on the web to display their poetry.

Thanks

Welcome again, and I spent an hour or so at your site, and found it very uplifting, and extremely informative.  I truly hope you get a good response as there is more of this needed for those that wish to throw down the "victim" t-shirt and wear the "survivor!"

By the way, I too was shocked to read your name, in a good way.  It will now be a constant reminder to us all here to remember a lovely, lovely lady that passed away last year having put up the fight of her life.  She is sadly missed, and you are now so welcomed.  I know you will love the poetic community of folks you find here.  Enjoy!

Welcome to the greatest poetry circle on the Internet~

Through the years there have been many poets that write of abuse ... it's devastating effects and the techniques of how they survive~

I've briefly visited your site and will return~

I've spent years mentoring both spouses caught in the web of abuse and children of abusive environments ... there are so many tragic tales to tell~

Welcome again ... settle in and get to know the poets within this beautiful circle ... I know we will all warmly welcome you~
Hoping you will share some of your poetry with us also~

Thanks for your support.

I can change my name if you all wish.  It is an on-line name that I have used for about a year or so now, but if it is distressing for some members, I can change it to something else.

I am glad people have visited the site.  I too give support to a number of survivors of abuse, and wanted to create a site for this side of myself on the web.  A lot of the poetry/writing I do (actually all!) is from this view.

Thanks again for such a warm welcome

whitedove,
Welcome! I'll be surprised if anyone wants your name changed. Better that you return and share your writing with us, in my humble opinion.

I worked as a Child Protective Service worker so know your topic well. How kind that you donate your voice and site to such a need. Peace.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

No, Whitedove, please do not think of changing your name.

It was just a momentary jolt for so many of us...

But Whitedoves, such as yourself, such as our beloved Whtdove that we miss so much...

it is indeed the very reason that names such as yours, and hers, should live on.

Welcome, to Passions, to poetry, to a circle that is ever-widening.  Our own Rebecca, our Whtdove, would have been one of the very first to welcome you.

Welcome!  I'm Whtdove's mom and must say I, too was a bit stunned when I first saw your post.  I visited your wonderful website and can't say enough for the work you're doing.  My daughter's probably smiling in heaven saying, "Wow, Whitedove, welcome to these incredible blue pages."

Please don't change your name.  We have a warm feeling for it already.
