Hey everyone,

The Network for Good is an amazing resource if anyone is looking to volunteer, donate or look for people or pets.
Every imaginable resource is on this site and if you scroll down under the Main Red Cross listing, you will see the site created By Vicky and Twist to help others.  They picked us up.

It is in blue:  Hurricane Katrina Communication.   http://www.networkforgood.org/topics/animal_environ/hurricanes/

The best thing to do is tell anyone to contact the Red Cross local chapter or the Salvation Army, but Network for Good has a lot of other resources too.

If you go on www.yahoo.com  Network for Good is listed there right by the Red Cross and Katrina Relief.

Good Luck Everyone and God Bless.

Sue

Suzie, thanks! this is a great resource!
And even though I am not Catholic...not Christian...not a memer of any religious organization, I volunteer regularly at Saint Vincent de Paul, because in my community they are one of the most important resources for people in need. Our local SVdP maintains a 6-days-a-week thrift store, a food bank, and a social services office. In fact, that's where I was for 3 hours Saturday and 5 hours Sunday, helping to rearrange things in the store so the floors could be stripped and rewaxed, and shelves cleaned. So even though it's not directly disaster related, it's something that must be done, and most of the work is done by volunteers. Guess where I'll be tonight? Yep, setting up a new store display and cleaning the toy room, and the book room.
And every hour I volunteer might some day come back to me in ways I could never forsee. The same holds true of the donations of food, cash, clothing.
"But for the grace...." that's a phrase I've grown up hearing from some of the GIVERS I've met.
