Those considering sending packages or even standard mail into the areas worst affect by Katrina should know that even the U.S. Post Office is not without limitations.

Check with your local post office to make sure what you are sending will get where you want it to go in a reasonable time period.

Good thinking.  Funny story ...

The thing is Serenity was to receive a parcel from me on the Monday that this hurricane hit, and is she going to get a laugh out of the title of book included in that parcel of gifts, that is if she ever gets it!  I can't tell it yet, because it would spoil the fun.

Thanks Ron, you are always thinking way ahead.  At least if Karen were to get any mail now it would get there, her latest city of choice is not on that list I noted.

Yet another reminder that we tend to take it for granted that the mail always gets through...but who would it be delivered to? no one will be there to receive it for many weeks.
THANK YOU RON, for offering us all an alternative to standard mail. This site has been up and running circles around the government.

Good news too, I was at the Post Office today and they advised me that as long as the place is actually getting mail then it is OK to ship.  She did say though, that they are being VERY strict with anything going to LA.

My package was able to go though, but it also was not one of the zips listed above.  I suggest that if you want to get something out, do it now.

Western Union has a 50% discount on all wire transfers to Louisiana or Mississippi....pretty decent of them.

I love that darn Wal-Mart.  They came to Canada and we love them here.  Canadians should be aware, that if they are sending Wal-Mart Shopping Cards, to their friends and family in the United States they don't work down there if purchased in Canada.  Tracey emailed me to tell me they have a different system on their computers down there and American Wal-Marts will not validate Canadian Wal-Mart Shopping Cards.  So don't send any!

Hrummmph!  We will have to fix that situation darn fast!
