I just got word that I have to fill in for an old band on Sunday (six days)... only 21 songs, however.....

FOUR I have never played before...
FOUR have runs in them that I alsways had a challenge with and have not played in 3 years or better
TWO songs I have never heard before...
TWO I forgot I had ever played...
ONE rehearsal before the show.

Also:
FIVE days of full time employment
THREE days of part-time employment
TWO nights with unbreakable previous engagements

And there are 600-800 people expected in the audience of a cancer benefit for the drummer's mother... nope... no pressure.

Do I have permission to panic NOW?????

actually, I just needed to get that out... and cursing at the top of my lungs would scare the old lady next door, and send my roommate into spasms...

Thanks for listening.

BTW... the final contract for the book is expected to be here on Wednesday... at least there's SOME good news
lol

[You recognize audiences, right?]

Don't you know, that just when you think you're getting busy...you get busier???

Thanks, guys....
I have spent the majority of the day with my bass in my hands, and the few tunes I have in my CD headphones. Now that the initial "holy... uh... Geez, what a revolting development...: I very simply get down to doing what I do best, and played.
I'll let you know how the show goes.

And Bernie?? Welcome back to the family. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself.

I would like to again thank you gals for all the support. I got my bass back from my drummer's house last night and started rehearsing... I was able to get 10 of the songs perfect first time (once I remembered a few notes), and that was half. the ones that I had the challenge with last time are coming along nicely (no real hassles... I guess they just needed to sit for a while.)

Now, all I have to do is learn one more Iron Maiden tune that I've never played before, and learn an Audioslave tune, and a System of a Down song that I have never heard before.

If anyone here is in the North East PA region this weekend, the show is donation only, and there will be a beer truck and all. We are 2 hours away from the GW Bridge, and about 1 1/2 hours from Philly. I can get you directions if you write.

Think back to those times when you over-rehearsed and went out on stage and blew your favorite lick because you were over-confident...

I used to sit in for other players a lot.. a very great Memphis R&B man put it into perspective for me one night before a gig... 'just go out there and play the notes and have fun'.

Thanks again for all the great advice and support... when I get a copy of this, videos will be made available for any that wish... although I should warn you that it is all mostly old school metal (Priest, Maiden, Sabbath/Ozzy, Queensryche, etc).

And Reb? I have NEVER been over-confident on stage... lol...
Before a show, I am an absolute wreck- which usually irritates, or amuses those I perform with- and once the lights hit, and I am about 5 seconds into the show, I forget I am there, and let the music take over.
