Hello everyone!

Just a quick note to relay a message from k..

To quote her?

"The witch has lost her power"!

*gasp*

But seriously, the storm knocked out the electricity and she hopes to have it back soon..
For a tropical storm, this was a MEAN one!

Everybody's fine, tho -- no houses fell on anyone this time and I'm sure she'll be posting in person soon enuf..

I figured you would be without power.
We lost ours here in the panhandle and we were even directly hit, just on the east side of it all.

Sad to learn of your damaging storms while we sat in our drought.  Actually, we had a welcomed inch or so of rain on the 4th just about noon.  Glad every one's alright.

K says thanks for all the well wishes...

but I'm afraid that it may be awhile before she's back online..

apparently?
the power 'pole' was snapped in half only to have a tree fall on top of THAT mess...  and we haven't seen ANY trucks from the power company...

so, she aint happy...

I just brought her some batteries and an oil lamp, so at least she'll have some music and she can go easy on her beloved candles...

Thought I'd pop in and update you guys...

And there's another on the way, Dennis.  That one has a very good chance of becoming a Cat-1 Hurricane, since earlier this afternoon it had sustained winds of 70 mph, just 4 mph shy of Cat-1.  Not quite sure where that will make landfall, though it hardly matters.  Rain bands on hurricanes and large tropical storms/depressions can extend hundreds of miles from the storm's center.

Darn I keep forgetting the weather down there this time of year.  I am so glad to know you are still all standing, even if some of you are powerless.

I hope she will be using this time to get her book done, as I am hoping to have it on my shelf in my lifetime.  However, knowing her I bet I know what she's up to.

Seriously though, glad she is okay and time off the computer is not always such a bad thing!

No need to torque words.  When I said 'hardly matters' I was not speaking as a resident of Arizona, but as someone who's lived through more hurricanes than I can count during my 27 years in coastal Texas.  Though the 'eye' of the storm may strike a specific spot, the rain bands can easily cover multiple states, dumping copious amounts of rain accompanied by hail, lightening, and high winds.  So it hardly matters who gets hit, since storms, especially very large ones, are very democratic: everybody gets some.

Those storms have a way of even making their way up to Kansas...they just dry out and become tornados.  In BP [Before Passions] time, and one got the news on the old-fashioned tube - we watched, but remained calm, generally, unless we had family in "the immediate" area.

Today, with our realm continually closing in with our electronic gidgets and gadgets, and the friends we make AP [After Passions], I have a stronger sense of concern for all.  These are no longer just "someone else's" tragedies. They've become far more personal.

Stay safe, all.

Alicat, sorry for the frustration.

There are just a lot of people and property in danger. We, here in NW Florida, cannot take another hurricane so soon. Some people around here still have their blue roofs from Ivan last year.

Home owners insurance agencies have dropped people like hot potatoes.

I don't mean to complain. I could move, and probably will, but not because of the hurricanes. It's just frustrating because most people don't really truly know what it's like.

And I could've kissed every Mississippian lineman (and there were plenty) for helping me to retain my "power".

Thanks to you all, for caring and sharing, and I'll be back soon.

Right now I just want to hug all my Brit friends...sweating, now, seems so not important.

(I wasn't prepared for this storm actually, and had no idea of weather reports, much less world events until forty five minutes ago.)

Thanks twist, for posting for me (AND the batteries, AND the oil lamp AND the meatloaf AND the love) while I guarded the place 'gainst the looters. grin?

(I know, I know, we have to quit inviting em. )

hugs to all,

I'll be around,

and hey? Ali-bro? thank you. *hugs

(dix? The man knows his storms, especially firestorms...)

Sharon? I'm holding my breath with you. (hugs)

let me go catch the news.

and thank you all

Karen, glad to see you here again, though it may only be for a couple more days

I think all of us along the coast are gonna be out of power again come Sunday

I know what you mean about kissing the power company workers...it was an awesome thing to see so many trucks from other states here when Ivan hit. I was so grateful to get my power back on.

One good thing...the FEMA guys are all still here along with all the roofers and tree cutters from Texas

A call from the two bookends is coming on Saturday, you home?  Hey Twist, if you are there would be good to hear if you speak N'Arlins at all   Glad to hear you are okay, but we want to hear it from the horse's mouth.

I too am catching up on news, and sometimes you really wonder if its worth it.   I belong on the other side of the glass.
