Stepped out to see War of the Worlds last evening, I can tell you, there was no dissappointment here...even though I know the story, I was shaking...or maybe it was the air conditioning, but I can tell you...the special effects were awesome, best action packed movie I've seen in a long while...not to mention, disturbing edge of your seater all the way through...if you get the chance, try and catch the movie, but make certain, the theater your viewing it in has a big screen and surround sound...

Come back and let me know what you thought...
Hugs and Happy 4th...be safe and have fun

I just saw it last night.. I read the book a long while ago, and I actually thought the new movie was pretty awesome.

I'm such an alien freak, though.

While I was reading this post yesterday morning, my BF phoned and asked me to see the movie! It was utterly amazing! The special effects were out of this world! lol
~ as was Tom Cruise! If he doesn't receive an Oscar for his performance, I'll eat my halo!

The young actress who played his daughter blew me away with her talent! The movie was spell-binding and my BF and I barely spoke during the movie. It held our rapt attention throughout the two hours! We didn't want to miss a thing!

Perhaps you could write reviews more often! I trust your views more than I do most critics! lol

Love & Light,
Linda

I took both my daughter and nephew to see War of the Worlds yesterday... I enjoyed the movie, as did they, but I wouldn't call it a classic or even give it an "A" rating for a couple of reasons.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD ~ DON'T READ IF YOU PLAN ON SEEING THE MOVIE!

1. The entire city's car population died through EMP - stopped dead in their tracks, there were masses of people fleeing in panic, yet Tom was the only one able to retreive a running vehicle and he and his family were able to pretty much easily drive through all the "dead" vehicles and masses of peope.

2. How in the world did his son not only make it Beantown before Tom and his daughter, but even to survive after he left his father to go to the front lines of the military action?  All of those military personnel on the front line during that scene were completely anialated. An explanation is needed.

3. And finally, the ending... to abrupt and without any warning or clues as to how the aliens were going to be defeated. I prefer the Mars Attacks! ending, where Slim Whitman's yodeling - discovered by a grandmother - does the Martian's in... but to at the very end, add the narration of how and why the Martians were dying, to me, just seemed to rob something from the picture.

I give the movie an overall grade of B.

I have seen this movie twice. I was on the edge of my seat both times. It was so intense my mom was squeezing my hand to death the whole movie.

Poetry is beauty in words.

JCP ~

I understand where you are coming from, but I tend to enjoy a movie more when I don't dissect it. I just like to be entertained ~ and that was one heckuvvan entertaining movie! Mind you, I personally could have done without the blood 'n guts schtuff!

EA,

I appreciate how you enjoy a movie, but if a movie allows me to pick it apart - pick it apart, I must.

I still enjoyed it.
