Very shortly I will announce my intention to run for the office of mayor in the city of Frederick, MD

Not that I live there, but a recent Federal District court has ruled that a residency requirement for candidates is unconstitutional on both state and federal levels...soooooo

Like Mallory before me, I do it because it is there.

The Offiicial campaign website is up, though still under construction. All that is there right now is a couple photos of the shack.

I've been busily writing my campaign rhetoric, and hope you all will come by in a few days to see where this madness is going.

Yanno? Its damned hard to write without actually saying anything.

Stranger things happen up here, so you may just win!  Heck if I could, I would sure vote for you, at least they would have an honest Mayor.  By the way, being a born shopper I noticed there's nothing for sale in the store   Do you suppose there will be cute furry Yeti dolls like you coming to a store by us soon?

I love the picture of you on the phone in the "about" section.  It needs a caption, though.

I love it!!

Do the voters have to live in Frederick? I'll send in an absentee ballot to vote for you as I am absent from the city of Frederick so much that I don't even live there!

Here's where it gets a bit (more) absurd.

There IS a (constitutional?) residency requirement for voting in a municipal election. Meaning, I can run but not vote.

The unofficial slogan is "Vote for me, because I can't"

OH! and I work in the incumbent mayor's restaurant, a candidate for re-election.

I have threatened to run for mayor of our small town for ages, because after seeing some of the ones they have in office... I could certainly do NO worse.  But... I don't think they will let me bring my children to work with me, and let's face it, with all these kids - ain't no way I'm leaving them home alone.  I would then have to shove the Sheriff outta his seat and be the new law in town, cause for sure my brats would get into something that would end up on the 6 o'clock news.

Anyhoo....

YAY!!!

Well, the graphic design brain took over and I couldn't help myself.  Besides what is an election without campaign buttons?

Here ya go Wranx

If a wrestler can become a governor...

and an actor become governor...

and another actor become governor/president...

then why not a Wranx for Mayor?

First thing you do, however, is make sure that all PiPsters of whatever nationality can give you a VOTE!

COOL!  Too bad about the vote restriction though.

Can we all get road contracts or something?

How about a monthly poetry festival; you know, maybe one on tap...with babes?

*grin*

Maybe you could try Randy Weaver's trick.  He gave out business cards that said to vote for him on one side and on the other side it said, "Get out of jail free if you vote for me; good only for one misdemeanor conviction per voter."

DAMN! I can only hope to get a small portion of the support I've gotten from here!

The graphics are great! I'm going to put a link to this thread on the website.

Loving icebox' ideas!
I think I'll need to install a poet laureate if elected...LOL

OH! There's going to be a message board on the campaign site! feel free to come by and say "hey"

Funny that you are talking to Bri in it)

(briguy)

*smile*

I am moving, that's it . . .
the sales tax is wayy better there anyhow.

When you win, promise to change nothing.

*grin*

OH, and mann, isnt there a way to become a resident temporarily?

An absent vote?

Ed, if I could ~ I would! I'd most definitely vote for you! You are like a breath of fresh air, and you have hutzpah (?), intelligence (the kind that counts!), and integrity. You'd be shaking up the status quo and putting your heart and soul on the line while bringing in the new and at the same time retaining the  gold of the old. You'd actually be bringing respect and accountability to politics! ~ and it certainly would be one helluvvalot more interesting with you as a member of that arena!

Gosh, I wonder if there is a way that I could get on the elector's list before voting day! Hmmm! ~ 'Tis not out of the realm of possibilities for an "angel"!

Wishing you all best, Ed!

Can you imagine our wranx as mayor?

You bet!

Seriously, knowing what I know of you and the way you see/feel/think, the man inside the man....I would vote for you, for real, if you were running for congress. A legislature made up entirely of decent, introspective and unselfish people would be a blessing to this country.

Edd- I completely missed this the first go-round...
I have to tell you, I hvae a severe weak sopt for Quixotic campaigns in any form... therefore, I am going to officially endorse your campaign the minute my band's website gets up... Of course, you might be on your 4th term by then, however you hvea the metal musician's vote... in Pa, anyhow.
