I just wanted to thank everyone for their wonderful greetings.  I have appreciated them more than you'll ever know.  Sometimes I just don't want to get out of bed, but knowing that my friends are on the blue pages in the other room makes that much easier!  I apologize for not getting around to everyone in a speedy manner-I can't seem to find a comfortable height for my leg.  I've had it every which way, propped up on chairs, trash can, desk, pillows, everywhich way but standing on my head!  When I type with the keyboard in my lap, I find I make tons of mistakes, sooo if I make silly mistakes such as --  Whoops, had to delete that as I'm getting a little punchie.  Only two and a half more months!

This is especially a hard time.  My daughter moves away to college tomorrow.  She has held a major spot in my life, although it seems I have never been with her at the most important times of her life due to work.  I haven't decided if I'm going to travel 3 + 3 hours to move her off to college.  Probably will, but am not looking forward to traveling.  The most I've traveled since the breaks is 40 minutes and it was difficult.  There's just no place to put the old leg-lug!   Wish me luck!
    Luv you, all.
                 Cathy

Just take care, keep the leg up...[I do have a standing on my head poem that I will send you...] and as a voice with experience...once that child moves out, and yes, you will miss her for oh, about, a day...

with a good attitude, the "empty nest" syndrome turns into a feeling of "Oh WOW!  I have my HOUSE back!  I have my LIFE back!"

Letters are good - phone calls will happen, and there will be more times that they come home, then not.

We're so fortunate to live in the computer age, where photos and love are but a click away.

DON'T trip when you're moving her...that's MY forte!

Just an update.  Still need your prayers.

I went to the ortho doc today about my leg.  I've been on the exhausted side since the weekend when I over did it, but otherwise am feeling on the mend.  The good doctor said everything looked great, mending as it should.  He still would like me to stay off work for another couple of months.  I asked him about signs of blood clots.  He told me often people don't know when they have them, but he didn't suspect I had one--that there was no need for testing.  I am an eager questioner, always wanting to learn more.  By the time I left his office I had decided not to have the hospital check for a blood clot just when he turned around and said, "Since you brought it up, I'd feel bad if you had one and I'd told you no need to have it checked out."  (I think he changed his mind about having the hospital check into this because I had told him about a terrible dream prior to my surgery: I dreamed I had died, similar to that of the time I dreamed my dad had died--four days later he did with no other warning).
So to make a long story short, an hour later, he was on the phone thanking me that I had taken the time to ask questions. The hospital found a small clot in my leg.  Actually, I think maybe more than one, but I'm not sure.  In any case, I'm now a human dart board a couple of times a day for a couple of weeks, and taking a dose of rat poison, as my husband calls the med, in between.  I feel that catching this in time was one of God's little miracles!  Still will appreciate a little prayer now and then.   ~~~Thanks,

Hi, Cathy!     Sorry, I've been out of it this past week with the extra order I got and Abby home trying to pack for SF.  She leaves tomorrow, BTW, 11:35 a.m.  Seems we're both loosing our girls about the same time.  This time, I am ready for her to leave again.   She's ready for her own life....I hope.  Today, I had to fly to Dallas to testify at a hearing....long story, not mine....someone else...it involved my former job.  I'll give you a call Thursday after Abby gets off and tell you all about it.  You are in my prayers and I am so glad the doc caught this.  I hadn't even stopped to consider that clotting like that might occur, but I sure can see where it might.  You are in my prayers, sis.  Love you.  Night, night.

Cathy,
I am so out of the loop! Sorry about your condition. Hope you heal quickly. So is that an empty nest echo I hear? Peace.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Take care of yourself, Cathy. And when you get back you can write about your daughter to get your mind of the pain and use up some of the empty nest thoughts... and give us good poetry, all at the same time! Mostly, though, take care. Still praying for the pain to lessen...

Always, Alyssa

Sunshine,
Thanks for the note.  Sometimes I listen to intuition, sometimes not.  I really had decided I didn't need the blood clot test after the doctor told me about it.  It was HIS intuition about my first intuition that did the job.  It's hard for me to separate intuition and wishful thinking!  Thanks for looking in on me.

Larry,
Yep, you're hearing a little reverberation from emptying the nest.  I still have a little birdie home that will keep me busy, but will miss the wingin' one.

Gentle Spirit,

It's so kind of you to put me in your prayers.  I appreciate it very much.  Changing the subject, I love your duet.  Simply beautiful and uplifting.  Thanks, Sweet One.

GG,
You are such a sweetheart!  About writing of the empty nest, I'm not far enough away from that right now.  Still gathering feelings for interpretation...
I'll try to be a good girl and do what the doctor says, just because I know you ALWAYS do!  Right?
Take care, Alyssa.
                cathy

Margherita,
It is so sweet of you to stop by.  I don't get enough of your writing!  Where is your pen?  Perhaps the poetry has been there when I have skimmed through, but if it has been, somehow I missed it. Thanks for your prayers and good wishes.
                    cathy

Enchantress,
Oh those prayers!  Thank you so much!  I wish I could get around a little more on the blue pages.  I can't seem to keep up, however, I was able to respond to one of your poems today.  I love your spirit.  It is so uplifting.  Thanks, Nancy.  Have a great weekend.

Another update:

Great day today.  I took my first shower in weeks.  (I'm sure all appreciated the fact!)  Last Wednesday my doctor told me I could go swimming? if I could use the handicap pool.  That was before they found the bloodclot.  I can hardly wait to hear if that still stands true.  I should finish my twice a day injections tonight and will have my blood monitored every couple of days at the hospital.  I'm hoping my doctor will not want me to renew my prescription of darts.  I'm not particular fond of the 8:00 darts, but appreciative of their help.  I'm hoping that the Rat poison will do the trick by itself!
Got a little nervous yesterday and I called the life squad, as I experienced dizziness and labored respiration.  I had it checked out, having no problem in the lungs.  Probably an allergy thing I'm guessing, as my father always had terrible hay fever in Aug./Sept.   They did increase my blood thinner a bit--perhaps because they were starting to wonder if I had any blood--It took five needles before they could hit the vein!  (My brother-in-law always said,  " YOu can't squeeze the blood out of a turnip!"  I must be part veggie!

Thanks, Dixie, for your sweet words.  Thanks, Everyone.
