Listening to every heart
Use to be, fireworks were everywhere. Now, they are generally at community organized, special events, to keep the dangers of manning and firing off one's own fireworks to a minimum. But in some states, they still sell them, by the roadside, and one can pick up everything from sparklers to "snakes", pinwheels to small exploding rockets.
But the community events, organized to keep fingers on one's hands and fires at a minimum, well, there you see the bigger, more spectacular fireworks.
And of course, TV is not without its own brand of showing several larger citywide and statewide events, complete with the Boston Pops Orchestra to accompany the merriment.
Ah, neighborhood fireworks displays are not what they use to be...we have to rely on our "lightning bugs" to entertain us quietly...
Happy Fourth, everyone. We still have a boatload of freedoms that others have yet to experience.
