These are my first ultrasounds! We're not sure if it's a boy or a girl yet, but I saw it and it's healthy as can be. My mother calls it "sassy".

My next appointment is on May 7th, and I might be able to tell then.

Seeing this small little thing moving inside of me was the most surreal and exciting experience I've ever had..

what a fantastic experience you are going through!
beautiful kick into reality when you finally "see" your baby in the ultrasounds, and even better when you get to hear the heartbeat!

congrats!!

Well, until we know if it's a boy or a girl, we're not certain on a particular name.

We have come up with one for a girl that I absolutely adore: Freyja Ailis. Freyja is a Norse Goddess, and Ailis is a Celtic form of Alice. The father is so Scandinavian it hurts, and the same goes for me with my Scottish roots, so we wanted to mix/combine our ancient tribes to create a good name.

As for boy names, that we cannot agree upon. Somehow, boys get shafted in the Norse/Celtic names, they do not roll off of the tongue as well. We want something that isn't too hard to pronounce or write, and something that the child will not get made fun of for in the future. Paul suggests a lot of "Bj" names, ie; Bjorn. That isn't something that I'd particularly agree upon.

Anyway, I do hope it is a girl, because I need hair to braid, and beautiful long eyelashes to play with.

If it's a boy, I'll be just as happy, that gives me a lot of tiny batman shirts and cute overalls.

Thank you all for the fantastic comments!
