And now you’ve closed your eyes
But your music plays in my mind
Unchained melody inspires my soul
But leaves a tearful remind
That a bit of this world’s beauty
Slipped away from us in his sleep
For every cherished note, I give thanks
As I gently weep.

Yes, thank you suthern.  Their voices, part of my growing up, will be missed in duet.

They WERE my growing up.  I thought their music hit a chord - and indeed, it did, but I thought I was the only one that knew.  Such was the media back then.  I hope Bill retires - in honor of a passing that cannot be replaced.

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
They now have one hell of a band.

Righteous Brothers....The Reunion Album
He will be missed by all...

Thank you all so very much... I heard Ebb Tide on the way to work this morning... and just knew I didn't want to hear whatever the DJ was going to say afterwards... I'd had the exact same feelings on a long-ago August day when 3 Elvis songs were played in a row... only two times I've heard music and immediately known I was listening to a memory.

That song has always touched me, Toe... that band just keeps getting bigger.

I was in the service in Germany when they became popular. I remember that I was at my sergeant's house, who lived off-base, where a bunch of us had congregated for a poker game, as we often did. The tv was on in the other room. The Righteous Brothers started singing Unchained Melody and sarge jumped up from the table to run in and see who was singing. After a minute, the sarge, who was black, came back with a shocked look on his face and said, "Those boys are white!!!"

They, and their music, will always bring back good memories....

This news hit me right in the gut too~
Having been to three of their performances, I've got so many wonderful memories~
Sad how quickly the time slips on by,
leaving the music to comfort us all~

*Huglets* dear Suthern for this loving post~

(big hugggsssssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, I was very saddened to hear of is loss and really loved hearing his music in this whole new generation! He truly shared true heart with Righteous Brothers alongside Bill Medley and made great music, as "Unchained Melody" is one of my all-time favorites along with "Rock and Roll Heaven" (sigh) God Bless You, Bob, rest in peace, and God Bless Bill, you two will always be blue-eyed soul!

Thank you all... so very much. *S* And M'toe... the pictures are such a wonderful addition... thank you! *S*

Apparently, Unchained Melody was one of those happy accidents that sometimes happen... it was supposed to be the "B" side, not for radio play... thank heavens for such happy accidents. *S*

Times like this renew my puzzlement in how and why music works in the human brain.
We all know it does, but . . .

ugh, I know...a "day too late"...but man, I love Unchained Melody.  That's one of those songs I could listen to over and over and over again...

Do songs on the radio sing to all the fools in love?
