Somewhere around three years ago, I think I started counting,
for here in Passions' Poetry, the numbers were a-mountin'...
and the final numbered count, if I think I remember straight,
was a grand 2,000 poets who came to celebrate!

For Poetry has died, it was rumored among the lines
but here in Passions, with 2000, we said it was doin' fine!
It was not dead, we disagreed, and shook our inky pens!
then laid down lines and lines and lines, then we did it all again.

Now, today, this wondrous day, we're 7,000 members strong...
until a sweep, a mighty sweep, and Ron clears out the throngs!
For some have come, and some still go, a revolving door for sure...
but in the archives remain their songs, still sounding clear and pure.

Congratulations, Ron...
on building a site for Poets
though some may go, surely,
more have stayed...

Wow....congrats Ron. I intend to train this puppy as fast as I can to understand what "Pip Time" means. That way as soon as I say it...she will run to her spot underneath the puter desk. Love this place and the people. Chris

After rereading my last post, I realize that it sounded like I was training Meeka to "go" underneath of the puter desk. Heavens no! I meant she will run to her blankey under the desk and relax while I read all of the wonderful poetry aloud to her. Ummmm...no not "allowed to her" ....  out loud to her. Oh, good grief. congrats!

Seven thousand members???
No wonder I can't keep track
That's why my dearest Poet friends
I just keep coming back

So many friends I've found here
So much warmth and loving care
And when one needs an arm around
There's always someone there

7000 for you Ron and Dutch knuffels too.

more people is better. but then..sometimes it's not. but 7,000 is a good, sound number. even temporary members are always remebered for something.

I almost replied to this thread yesterday, but couldn't stop giggling long enough to type anything.

I really appreciate the thought behind this, and I certainly appreciate everyone's enthusiasm. But, uh, this is actually the third time we've passed the 7,000 mark, guys.

We've actually had (as of this moment) 10,460 people register usernames in the forums. If you check the Profile of the newest Member, the unique number after their name indicates the count. Not all of those ten thousand people have actually posted, though. At least once a year, I go through the database and clean house. I never remove any username that has actually posted, but if they still have zero posts several months after registering, I delete the username to keep that part of our database as small as possible.

So, uh, thanks for noticing this particular milestone in our history. Even if y'all did miss it the first few times.

(In a very real sense, you probably picked the right time to notice it, though. The database was cleaned about six or seven weeks ago, so almost all of those 7,000 have actually posted and will never be removed. It is highly unlikely we will ever again fall below that 7K mark.)

the same ol' question though... how many of those 7,000 are taken up by psuedonyms? I bet a grand or so belong to Nan and Kari alone!
