Hi, My name is Sara...you all seem to know each other pretty well and I hope I can join you.  It would really help me to talk to people that love poetry.  I still need work but I would LOVE to hear your comments.  I have tons of poetry ranging from depression to anger to love.  Thanks and I hope to talk to you soon!

Sara, Open Forums are for poetry only, so I'm going to move you into the discussion area of Announcements.  You'll get to know a good number of us as time goes by, I'm sure.

LOL.. oh they are sticklers around here for the proper forum for the proper post... Sunshine is one of the worst...I used to think she was just mean..then I found out she was more than mean. There was guy came through here one day and posted a poem about frogs out in the open forum. Sunshine knew frogs didn't live out in the open so she petitioned the owner of this fine establishment to start a new forum JUST for repltiles so that none of the more squeamish members thought they would get warts or something from reading about frogs...

Keep an eye out for Sunshine..I'm telling you she is sneaky and loves to move posts around...

Now the ones you can really trust here are Toe Rag and Balladeer... both of them kind hearted souls who are VERY serious about writing...
you have any questions..you just look one of them up..they'll help you get the low down on what is going on in here for real..

Oh..by the way.. every other thursday we like to go ahead and sacrifice someone to the gods of poetry... like to sign up for next months sacrifice??

Sar.. the sacrifice usually involves a volunteer who sneaks into one of Sunshine's posts and leaves an offering. Sometimes they escape unharmed but we all know that once in a while they never come back. Rumor has it that Sunshine has captured some of the volunteers and they end up exhiles into the philosophy 101 forum where they have to endlessly argue the merits of religion and politics... some of those people have never again written a word of poetry... Now the usual offering to Sunshine is a quick note to tell her of course how we ALL just LOVE what she writes and ALL just worship the ground she walks on. ( it is kind of a suck up sacrifice...and she figured it out back about 40 years ago which is why she tried to capture the posters now..she thinks we are all making fun of her)
If you do get caught and sent to the purgatory of Philosophy 101.. we will try to drop by and tease you ..I mean say hello once in a while...

Now..Ms Devine... her...she is a bit unstable, ever since they found her wandering around in the desert here while back. She was mumblinf something then about the tracking device these guys had put into her head and how she could hear voices telling her to do things. She was admitted to an institute for observation but they released her with the warning she could be a bit unstable and should be watched. Right now she wears one of those ankle tracking bracelets and is under house restraint in a home for the aged... they treat her pretty well as best we can tell, but she complains there is not enough jello or tapioca pudding anymore since the republicans got in office... oh yeah those voices she hears..she channels that int poetry these days, so if you see one of her posts just nod, say something nice, and remember where it comes from...

Oh..that is only the tip of the iceburg... yo have no idea how scary and mean these people can be... but you stay on your toes and you'll be alright.. of course..your toes may hurt a bit from staying on them all the time instead of sitting down to write...but after while you kind of get used to it...

You have any questions about th elow down on people here...just let me know.. I can tell you everyone's story... the good ( me of course) the bad ( Ms Devine) and the Ugly ( Duncan...you haven't met him yet...)

Sara, you'll note that Cpat Hair is a man who loves to tease...which is clearly seen above by his making me the object of his aversion.  LOL...

Seriously, we do have certain forums for certain things...such as this post, with your Announcing yourself; philosophy, the Alley for major gripes and complaints, and of course, a whole slew of poetry places for different likes and needs.

But as far as picking on two poets who would enjoy helping you with your poetry [assuming you need help, which I doubt... ] Toerag and Balladeer are two of our finer poets on our boards.

As far as being a sacrificial lamb...that's up to you!

As for my moving things around?  Sigh...it's been known to happen, that's for sure...but not without my notifying you of the move, and where you'll end up.

I note that Mr. Hair is in here again stirring up trouble...so just sit back, let him ramble...he'll eventually decide that you're not going to fall into his bag of tricks and go on to the next unsuspecting victim.

Sara?  Welcome to Passions...sometimes referred to as PiP...and at other times [especially when dealing with Cpat Hair] the Nut House.

Lol, thank you all so much, you guys are making me feel so welcome.  Im still a little confused and over whelmed by all the things here but its really nice.  I enjoy sharing poems with my friends but I dont think they really understand the true meaning-I want to get better at my poems and I love complements-or opinions.  I see the great poems around here and only dream of ever writing like that.  I like to post my poems but no one is really commenting on it.  I posted the best poem-or my favorite of mine and no one really responded-anyone want to see?

Sara, give us time to get in to the Open Forum [or teen forum] if that is where you posted.  Right now, I'm cleaning up behing Mr. Hair.  He does tend to shed a bit.

Sometimes the forums are very busy; right now I think you're hitting us at a "slow" moment.

If you haven't read through the guidelines on where to post, and what to post, I'd suggest you do a little reading in there.
/pip/guidelines/rules.html

It's of great help and will probably answer a lot of questions you might have about our little bit of heaven.

As for friends not understanding your poetry - several of us have friends like that.  We also have a Poetry Workshop, Sara, that you might be interested in.  We even have a playground and sandbox in there!  You'll want to e-mail Nan for admittance.

If you DO have any questions, just click on any of the moderators' names, and we'll be glad to help you out.

Karilea - if I whisper, will you listen?

I noticed that too.  You have to watch out for him, Sara, he's a very... confusing man.

Hope you have fun at piptalk... welcome to our community, don't be afraid to check out all the different forums this place has to offer.  A good way to do that is to try using the "Today's Topics" screen, just to get the big picture, so you don't miss anything that goes on here.

Who knows?  You just might be the next pip-aholic.

lol..it is OK Sara... they are just jealous of the little antenna I have growing out of my head..I get better reception on those voices than they do and often beat them to the punch when it comes to channeling them into the manifesto for the betterment of human nature in tolerance of alien visitors.....

Sara, I'm late as usual in welcoming you here. I do get around to it sooner or later, though.

I think you will enjoy it here. We really are like a great big family of friends. Everyone here is very kind and compassionate. We always like new members to come into our home.

You can find any kind of poetry that you like here. Our home has a mixture of everything....with people from all over the world coming together in unity because of our love of poetry.

Now, we do have a few nuts here (like our Capt. Ron) who had probably rather joke than eat when they're hungry. But, they even have warm, considerate and tender hearts.....they're also excellent and talented poets. If you will read some of their work, you will see what I mean.

Oh, by the way...let me introduce myself...my name is Ethel...aka garysgirl. And, as you will find out as you stay here longer, I am definitely garysgirl, and I want everyone to know it. LOL Seriously, I love to write love poems about Gary and myself and have to hold myself down sometimes about putting too much into the poems I write.

Oh, by the way, I am known to get kind of long-winded sometimes. LOL

Hugs to you, Sara
Ethel

Hey Sue?  I wonder if a "pip-aholic" is like
an alchoholic, only addicted to PIP?

Is that right, Brian? If it is, I must be a
pip-aholic for sure!!
