 Of all the friends I have come to know the Queen of Sonnets is just one.. Who works real hard to try and show just how sonnets can be done! I try and fail, but try again, for her heart and soul would be so pleased! If I could but one sonnet write, as she does hers, with flair and ease! But alas, I fail, though try again, my brain just won't pass muster! So I escape to free verse then, for Nan's sonnets leave me flustered!... But for a birthday sonnet, I'd walk a mile... just to see our own Nan smile... LOL...Happy Birthday, Miss GypsyNess!!! [This message has been edited by Sunshine (05-28-2003 11:10 AM).] |

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAN!! Heres hoping your day is as special as you are!! ~*~ If I was a poet who could write a sonnet ... I'd send you a card with a sonnet on it. But I think I was sick on that day of class ... or thats when Balladeer caught me without a hall pass. Maybe thats the day my dog ate my homework ... or was that the time my computer went berserk? Still, I'm sure I had a really good excuse ... Whats that you say? Look up the word obtuse?  Ok, I admit it ... my meter has two left feet, my muse cut class cuz she couldnt compete. But I wont need an excuse to say in cliche' I hope you have the most wonderful birthday. So with this closing couplet ... I raise my glass ... Heres to Nan, Pips teacher has got a whole lot of class.    |

 ~* Happy Birthday Nan *~ She’s up and at it With the light of dawn Surfing the forums Painting her face on. Heads out to school To teach or bore them Rushes home again, To clean up each forum. In her neck of the woods She's the teacher of choice When students get Nan They all rejoice! Around dinner time She back to her screen, In the halls of Passions This mean poetry machine! Her nifty eraser Has snuffed big men out, But being mean isn’t What our Nan is about. She kind, and gentle Helps anyone at all, Picks no favorites In Passion’s Hall. She sure is one mean Poetry writing machine, And the best darn Da-dummer I've ever seen. Well today’s her birthday, So shout it through the hall, Happy Birthday Nanners With love from us ALL! I've seen her pour out wondrous rhymes And read them unrehearsed. I've seen her be the perfect host. I've seen her be a hermit. I've seen her drive men quite insane Without a learner's permit. I've seen her visit Hemingway's. I've seen her hold a cat. I've seen her kill men with her gaze If she thinks they're a rat. For all the things I've seen in her I am a better man And, as we all do, I concur... THE HAPPIEST TO NAN!!!  |
