Well,  not really but, in a way, yes. Some time ago I was contacted by a teacher who had read one of my poems on our site. This is a compilation of our correspondence....

Dear Michael,
>
I'm a 6th grade teacher.  Our school is preparing for an annual
competition for speech.  I would like to know if I could have one of my
students memorize this poem for recitation at the competition.  I really
enjoyed the poem, and I think it would be very effective in the competition.
Please E-Mail me with your reply.

Thank-you.

Sheila Kirkland

Dear Mr. Mack,

This is Sheila Kirkland.  I am the 6th grade teacher that contacted you about a month ago to ask permission for one of my students to use your poem at a competition.  I am happy to tell you that the young man who recited your piece placed first in the regionals.  He will now go on to the state level.  I want to thank you for allowing him to use your poem.  It really is a moving poem, and I'm sure it was one of the reasons he did as well as he did.  I will keep you posted on how he does at the state level which will be May 10th.  Thanks again!

and, finally, this one....
---------------------------------------------------

Dear Michael,
I am sorry for being late with this E-Mail.  Things are so rushed at the end of the school year.  I did want to let you know how John did on his recitation of "Small Pain in My Chest," for the state competition.  He went to the competition on May 11th.  I was there when he gave his recitation.  He did a wonderful job.  I was very proud of him.  He was one of the five finalists, but he did not place in the top three.  Because they only award ribbons to the top three, he doesn't know if he was fourth or fifth.  In my book, however, he was first.  He was so very excited to be at the competition, and it's an experience that he will never forget.  Thank-you again for permitting us to use your poem.  It has touched many people.  May God richly bless you.  I pray that you know Him!  (John 3:16)

Am I tooting my own horn here? Well, maybe a little...but that is not the reason for this post. This example is to impress on all of us how special what we do here really is, how important Passions really is, and how what we do here can actually make a difference and touch the lives of many people we never even knew existed and may never even meet. Ron, if I have never said so strongly enough, thank you for what you have created here. You have made it possible, not only for poets of all levels to have a place to display their poetry, but to have put wheels in motion that have touched lives and made a difference. You should (and you better!!!) feel very proud for all you have done for so many people in so many ways.

Hats off to you, sir

Michael,
Well now how fabulous was that? Congratulations to you and the young reciter who know how to present a good. And to the teacher who has good taste. And to a poet that made the material that made the teacher that made the boy succeed!

Michael, Congratulations to both you and John. It's such a powerful poem ... I'm sure it brought a tear to eyes and a tug of hearts throughout the audiences. What a treat that would have been to hear him recite this piece. I would have loved to have been sitting in the audience listening.

As Sharon said ... this story just makes it all worthwhile!

Thank you, Ron.

Congrats to all!!! very cool Michael.

You are spamalicious

The gift of both this place and poetry is far reaching.
Yes...thank you Ron for all you do and give.

I simply loved this post! The whole scenario puts a smile on my face--and on my heart. Blessings to you, the young reciter, and to Ron!

--and yes, it also shows us how our Passionate poetry can reach out and touch people beyond our fellow Pipsters!

Loving hugs to all,

Oh Michael this is absolutely wonderful indeed. I know that poem and have read it to my son Daniel, he is 10 and he too loved it.

Congratulations!

Passions is a dream come true and I thank you Sir Ron for giving us the oppotunity to express, share, give and love.

So many people here at Passions have touched my life deeply and lastingly, and you are one of them, Michael. Thank you for your beautiful, heartfelt poetry, but more especially for your friendship.

And thank you, Ron, for making Passions, and all it means to me personally, possible.

Thanks for all the kind comments and congrats for 12 year old John. It is always heartwarming to know our words have touched someone somewhere enough to make a difference.....makes all the time spent more than worthwhile. That's what we strive for, right? I'm so glad fate (along with a helping hand from Ron) has brought us all together here
