This morning, serenity's brother died suddenly of unknown causes. He was in the hospital and due to be released when this happened. The whole family is in shock as you can imagine  so please keep them in your thoughts and prayers (especially her mom) at this sad time.

thanks all, once again.

I am so, so grateful to you all.

Your prayers have been a warm blanket to me and my family. Love to you all, threefold...

And we are a determined bunch--so know that we will be as fine as we can be. Not the same. No. Just different. But the love remains constant. Some of you also know my sis--she wanted me to extend her appreciation to you all as well.

You all are very special people. Thank you.

and yes...I think I'll stick around--hope that's okay.

Sending prayers on wings of light
High aloft from fear and fright
Lo! Ahead so bright the pearly gates
Where we all shall meet our future fates

There he stands, cloaked in gold
Among his family and friends of old
Above his head, the hand of God
To you he stops to wink and nod

A last goodbye,
Gestured on high,
On this sad nigh
Release a sigh

errmm, well, something just came over me.

Lady Sof? warm hugs...things "come over me too" now and then, and I'm grateful that you hugged me with your verse.

and gratitude for prayers sent and all those prayers in continue.

May I share something I found today? My brother was a student of theology, and he owned quite an extensive library. Since he and I were "discussion" buddies (putting it nicely now--smile) the family decided that they belonged with me. I found several editions of the Bible (thus far, I counted 12) but I was looking for his "study" bible--the one he that had highlighted and wrote notations in the margin. I found it about an hour ago. Inside the cover I found this scripture written very boldly--and more legible than normal. It was the first thing I saw:

1 Corinthians, 15:55

"OH DEATH, WHERE IS THY STING?
OH GRAVE WHERE IS THY VICTORY?"

It felt like we were talking again--and gave me so much peace.

I just wanted to share that with you all.

He left me quite a present there--one I thought that I should share with you kind people.

I love you guys. sigh.

This popping back up came as quite a surprise to me--I want to thank you all for just enduring with me.

I told Janet Marie that I feel like my life was snapped in half by Katrina. My brother passed away before my sister did, and it will be one year on the 23. It feels, oddly, like twenty.

I apologize for acting strange--the mood swings, the anger, the endless tribute poems to those who have passed on...and yes, Reb, yes Christopher, I even apologize for apologizing too much.

All prayers are gratefully accepted--and I if I have to ask for any special favors from the powers that be, I'd like to die of old age--with laugh lines on my face.

*hugs through tears*

Thanks for remembering me, and hold your loved ones tight--because until we lose them we don't understand how much of them defines us. I feel a bit rudderless, but hey?

I'm stubborn, yanno?

Dear Karen:  I'm very lae getting in here but wanted you to know that I regret not being among the first to offer condolences.
I do hope you and your family are recovering from this shock! I read all the messages and was particluarly touched with your finding your brother's study
Bible.  We lost our only grandson, to a reckless driver, a number of years ago and when cleaning out his room, we found Bible messages everywhere. In his books, his drawers, on his desk, in the pockets of his clothes. It was immensely comforting then and still is!

I thought you had to go through this today
I hadn't noticed the date
But nevertheless a loss is a loss
So I'm sending my hugs rather late

You had to endure so much my friend
In the one and half year that's gone by
I can hold you close to my heart, but I know
That I'll never be able to answer the 'Why'

Karen, I, like others in this thread, didn't notice the date.  I read through all the messages, struggling to see the words through my tears and gradually realised that this was an old message, and then one of three years.  However, as late as my message is, please accept my tears, prayers and hugs for you and your mother.  I know grief too, and this must have been devastating, even though you are all so strong.

Tears, prayers and hugs

You know...there isn't one day goes by that I don't wonder about Serenity, and everyone who was hit by this life changing disaster.  I doubt very much if any one of them will ever live long enough to get over this type of devastation.  The post trauma from a situation like this always seems to get swept under a rug somewhere and not dealt with.

As Karen is my friend - I am SO thankful for all of you!  She needs this kind of love and support for a long, long time.

God/Goddess bless them all - every one!
