I am going to be out of town for about a week and a half...
We are leaving on Monday, but I'm posting this tonight because I may not get to my computer tomorrow due to packing and other good pre-vacation stuff...
We are going to Vanderbilt University in Nashville for a possible second opinion on my treatment and then we plan to visit with friends in Atlanta, North Carolina and Washington, D.C....
I think that the autumn color will probably be close to peak in these areas now also... so we will also turn it into a color tour...
I will see you all when I get back... which will probably be sometime between Nov.14 and 17th...
and I will miss you all...
~ loving hugs from the traveling chipmunk

Lyra, while you are traveling, be sure to keep your eyes open after midnight for the Leonid meteor shower, which should be visible between Nov 15th-18th and peaks on the 19th according to www.space.com article I read yesterday.
Travel safely. Good luck with the 'bilt Docs, we will be here when you return.

Try to relax and have a good time Lyra.
Take in the fall colour show.
Maybe a new doc will have some new ideas!?
Stay positive and as always you remain in my prayers.

Thanks for your good wishes everyone...
I'm supposed to be packing right now, but I am sitting here, waiting for my pain meds to work...
On Friday, I very stupidly asked my physical therapist for more challenging exercizes and she taught me to walk sideways on the treadmill, ouch!!!!!
Then, yesterday... just as I was beginning to feel better,  I decided to tackle going up and down the stairs, but I had to hold onto the railing with both hands to keep the pressure off my bad leg... and that did the same thing as walking sideways on the treadmill !!!!
So now, I have strained the muscles in my lower back, and although it isn't anything serious... its just something I don't need added onto everything else
I guess that I must subconciously want David to do my packing for me... in addition to his own.
I hope this feels better by tomorrow b/c I have to sit in a car for 7 hours... luckily, I don't have to drive
I will see you all when I get back!

Whether or not, I get any information about treatments, this will still be a very nice trip because we'll be seeing some old friends and the beautiful autumn foliage to the south of here...  This will really extend autumn a bit

Thanks for all of your wishes everyone...
but I really don't expect to find out anything from this second opinion...
I'm really just seeking the names of some others who might be able to help me... or possibly find out where some vaccine trials for which I might qualify, would be...

Mostly, I think the trip will be a fun one, with visits to old friends and a nice color tour through the southern states

Thanks for guarding my acorns for me, Nan...
I wouldn't want Mr.Squirrel to get a hold of em...LOL

Thank you all for your hugs and good wishes...
We got back tonight and were too tired to go to the supermarket... so we had peanut butter and jelly on crackers for dinner...
Tomorrow, we have to do all of the getting back stuff like grocery shopping and picking up our mail... and of course, unpacking!

The colors were beautiful in the south... and it was like having a second autumn this year... which was very good for me because I might not ever see another one, and its my favorite season...

The second opinion was of no help at all and only served to depress me even further...
He told me that there was really no treatment for my type of cancer except if I wanted to try some experimental chemo... and that I wouldn't even know what it was until the day I got it, and therefore wouldn't know the side effects etc...
I cried for 2 days straight because of that, and have decided that I will not get anymore second opinions ever again... but I am still looking for a clinical trial on the vaccine.

It was also hard to write poetry because my muse was so depressed.  I did write a couple of poems, but they still need lots of work.
~ lots of loving chipmunk hugs to all of you

I think an unfinished chipmunk poem just may be superior to many 'finished' poems I have in my personal stash.
I am so sorry the medical news was not more encouraging, Lyra. If there is any way I can help you, I am here. And I know I'm only one of many, many passionate hearts who have been deeply touched by your presence here. We all love you, sweetest chipmunk.

Lyra,

I'm so sorry that traditional medicine has little next to nothing to offer you right now. But there is much out there that has been overshadowed by TM and is often overlooked. The power of the mind is enormous. Tap into it and keep looking for other resources.

I just tried to find, in my skimpy library, a book that I have liked very much. The author I believe is Andrew Wilde? For the first time I suddenly realized what a mistake it is to give away books. I have always been one to pass on good books and now I have nothing to reference for you! Anyway, he is an MD but, focused as an osteopath. He is wonderful and he does speak to illness such as the one you are at war with. I highly recommend that you check him out.

Love,
SG
