All of the damage is still not assessed, but most of the Greater New Orleans area considers this storm another close shave. No flooding for us, (MY family, that is) and, miraculously, we did not even lose power (all though 38,000 others did---and though we are still watching the radar? It seems we are being kissed goodbye by the last bands of this mess. There are several areas with flooded homes, and as always, submerged vehicles--disturbingly, on the designated evacuation route.

Ruth (suthern) checked in, and said her family also faired well in New Iberia.

I haven't heard from Paul Wilson, or Rich (spiked) but? anyone hear from Jenn? I do believe Gulfport is being pummeled right now.

Sigh...Thanks to all for the prayers and well wishes. Now let's all keep an eye on Miss Lily? I think I need some sleep...

thanks all, I exit yawning...

Witch's are NOT particularly fond of water... I barely tolerate the ice in my scotch!

I talked with Jenn last night. She was scared of the storm, but that's about the extent of it. At one point I told her "storm moving 12 mph North, with winds of 65 miles per hour" and she said "Scary storm stuff!"

So I dropped it and she threw a whole bunch of Village of the Damned smilies at me.

*ahem* In other words, I'm pretty sure she's fine.

Glad you are too, Sen. I was worried when I saw that New Orleans had turned to soup.

I am relieved. Hope the others are all ok, I remember being in a hurricane when I lived in Florida, and saying I preferred my home state of California quakes.
SLAP! Did I say that?
Maybe get a powerboat instead of a car?
That is scary if the evac routes get flooded.

Thanks Mikey--been worried about her...and enchanting one? That is the scary part--no way out--and? in an emergency? no way to get help IN. Makes ya feel kinda trapped. But I gotta admit, I enjoyed the back porch for the smaller squalls...crazy woman, me.

Okay..I haven't had the chance to watch the news, but since the restaurant where I work was open today, I assumed things were okay. Hmm..think Hwy 90 along the beach was closed, Ser..not sure about the rest.

This is my first time in Gulfport when the Hurricane season has actually been more of  a threat. We've been here for a few years now..and no tornadoes...the minute my husband and I part..and I stay here by myself..geesh...hurricanes. I'm scared of the rest of them out there, and I have a few disgruntled family members (including my husband) annoyed and worried because I won't let them come down here and get me.

Hmmm...wanna know how I was last night?

*Jenn...takes off glasses...turns out light and lamp...turns on radio tuned to a station with enough sense to do some storm reporting...snuggle under the covers..close eyes..try to sleep...

WHOOOSHHH>>>>>>BAMMMM....CREAK....BANG BANG BANG!! I'm at the BACK of the freakin' house, so each strong gust of wind is slamming the rain against my windows.....

wind gets heavy..rain gets heavy..rain throws a temper tantrum against my window....Jenn turns on lamp...puts on glasses...turns radio off...gets up..looks out window...

etc...
I did this numerous time last night. About 4am this morning, I finally fell asleep and then I had nightmares. Dreaming of spiders..terrifying..turns out that what I'm terrified of is a good fortune symbol as far as dreams go. **SHUDDERS** still it kept me from sleeping soundly. Had some other weird dreams too.

Okay..now that I'm finished babbling.

I'm okay, poet people. Thanks for wunnerin' 'bout me down here. Ser..glad you're okay.

Does anyone remember Snowie or Snowdwen? I should call to find out if she's okay.

Jenn? I might as well have been alone--sigh. HE was passed out again. Stay where y'are. And don't look back.

Having a storm OUTSIDE is bad enough, but to have to deal with one INSIDE too? *shaking my head*

"My hero" *shuddering in disgust*

sigh. Glad you're safe, lovie. AND HAPPY.

All is well in the Paul Wilson household.
Got cabin fever for being indoors for 3 days.
I sure wish we could have sent all tha rain to my California friends that despertly need it...Paul
