May 18 at 4:45 p.m. my precious daughter Ginger Michelle died at the age of 28. She suffered massive bleeding in her brain from an aneurysm and then had a heart attack. It was too much. I flew to Seattle and spent over an hour with her last night in the hospital room where she died. The staff generously broke policy and did this in anticipation of my arrival.

I donated her corneas, heart valves and tissue for burn victims. Now I have the heart breaking task of arranging her funeral. I wrote six poems on the flight here and don't know when I'll get them posted.

Please pray for me and my family. I need your love and support in this devastating time.

Larry, I have tears right now for this devastating tragedy. There are really no words to comfort for this kind of pain. My mother died of a brain aneurysm nearly 6 years ago and I still feel the loss greatly. I too, donated all possible organs, and they kept her on life support until I could get there. But, the loss of a mother, doesn’t even compare to the loss of a child. I’ll have to send you an e-mail a little later, as the tears are coming a little to strongly right now, for your loss and recalling my own. My deepest, deepest sympathies and prayers are with you and you family right now. This should never have to happen …a parent should never have to say goodbye to a child like this. If there ever was the biggest cyber hug…I’m sending it to you right now.

I'm so glad that you posted this thread, Larry...
The poets on this website are the kindest and most caring people I have ever met.

I just don't know what to tell you...but I will be here if you need to talk about it.

As you, know....I have been through a similar tragedy and sometimes talking to someone who has been there, helps...as does having a shoulder to cry on.

I know that you can't do it right now because you are faced with the ugliest task in the world...making funeral arrangements for your own child...
but, dearest Larry, I do hope that you will come back to us soon...there is a lot of comfort waiting for you here.

How generous of you to donate her organs, and to think of others at such an awful time.

My prayers will always be with you.

Hello Larry

For once words fail me after hearing of this tragedy.  You are often in my thoughts and will continue to be more than ever now.  How wonderful that the memory of your daughter will live on and her priceless organs will give a new lease of life to others.  Her death was certainly not in vain and you must feel so proud that she has given these precious gifts to others.  I dediced many years ago to donate my organs and it makes me more determined than ever after reading of the selflessness of your daughter.  I am sure she will live on in your heart for more than one reason.

Take care my friend, I'll be thinking of you.

Love Sue

it would be false if i were to tell you i know how you feel. i don't. no-one can. but i know how i felt when my daughter died, and i cannot imagine a deeper pain. i empathize as far as i am able, my friend, and i wish you strength in this time of sorrow. may the Lord bless your efforts; may he lighten your load, ease your way, and guard your path.

you will make it through this, and we will all be here for you. let us lift you up, even if only in spirit.

Larry,
I know I'm gone from the pages for days/weeks at a time, but that doesn't mean that everyone here isn't like family to me. I often read much more than I reply to due to time constrants and health problems. I've read everyone of your posts for Ginger and each brough tears to my eyes. No one should have to live longer than their child. God bless you and your family and see you through this unimaginable time.
Ruth

I thought this might bring some small comfort to you, it remains one of my favorites

To Remember Me

The day will come when my body will lie upon a white sheet neatly tucked under four corners of a mattress located in a hospital busily occupied with the living and the dying. At a certain moment a doctor will determine that my brain has ceased to function and that, for all intents and purposes, my life has stopped.
When that happens, do not attempt to instill artificial life into my body by the use of a machine. And don't call this my death bed. Let it be called the Bed of Life, and let my body be taken from it to help others lead fuller lives.
Give my sight to the man who has never seen a sunrise, a baby's face or the love in the eyes of a woman. Give my heart to a person whose own heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain. Give my blood to the teenager who was pulled from the wrekage of his car, so that he might live to see his grandchildren play. Give my kidneys to one who depends on a machine to exist from week to week. Take my bones, every muscle, every fiber and nerve in my body and find a way to make a crippled child walk.
Explore every corner of my brain. Take my cells, if necessary, and let them grow so that someday, a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat and a deaf girl will hear the soud of rain against her window.
Burn what is left of me and scatter the ashes to the winds to help the flowers grow.
If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses and all prejudice against my fellow man.
Give my sins to the devil. Give my sould to God.
If, by chance, you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you. If you do all I have askes, I will live forever.
