I'm praying for your hair, as well as you Lyra . That is good news that the cancer has not mestasized. I do so hope that is a good sign that they can stop it and it will go into remission. I'm praying real hard for you.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Thanks so much for praying for my hair, Tracey.  Its important to me because no one would recognize me without it.
Have you ever seen a bald chipmunk?

Dear Lord

Here's a prayer for Lyra's hair
tho one wouldn't know it wasn't there
for she's such a chipmunk, chippering
while leaving us all twittering

So here's a prayer for Lyra's hair
Keep it, and her, in your loving care
let us see a miracle at best
and let her pass this gruesome test

for she is full of nuts and honey
we love her sane, we love her sunny
we admire her courage, and her wit
we love her healthy, full, and fit!

Dear Lord, I ask in your name
that if a hair is all the same
you take what you need, she'll give to you
but leave her her wigs, all five will do!

I told you once before a while back, how much I admire you, your strength, honesty and forthrightness (is that a word??) this just adds more to my loving who you are inside and out. You are and will be always in my prayers and thoughts, Lyra...wish there was more I can do.

Lyra, rest assured you hair is included in my prayers along with the rest of you.  There's nothing i can say which will change anything but I do believe in positive thought as being one of the greatest weapons we have. You appear to be positive and determined to beat this thing and I am so glad because that is very important. Combine that with the positivity of all your friends here and perhaps, just perhaps, we can all do some good. I pray to God we can.....

Lyra darling girl you see I told you that you were beloved, I’m still praying and have asked that your hair be spared too.

Drop thy still dews of quietness
Till all our strivings cease
Take from our souls the strain and stress
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of thy peace
The beauty of thy peace

Breathe through the heat of desire
Thy coolness and thy balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire
Oh still small voice of calm
Oh still small voice of calm

from the hymn Dear Lord and Father Of Mankind

Take care, darling heart and remember we care

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

To give light to them that sit in darkness..... to guide our feet into the way of peace Luke 2:79

Yes Lyra... Your hair is indeed included in my prayers... HOWEVER... Would that we must choose... I'm opting for YOU... We can deal with the hair issue later... Be well, dear Madame...

Noah...thanks so much for the prayers and the angels...now go dry those tears and while you are at it, wipe your nose

Kit...thanks for your generous prayers...they are very much appreciated

Suthern...I'm glad you got a laugh out of the bald chipmunk.  Personally, I have never seen a bald chipmunk which is why I absolutely cannot lose my hair

Karilea...thanks so much for that lovely poem

Dear Lord, I ask in your name
that if a hair is all the same
you take what you need, she'll give to you
but leave her her wigs, all five will do

Somehow, I think that the wigs will be spared!   I had to exchange one of the good ones because my hair is now all salt and pepper colored and all of the wigs are brown.......Imagine! a salt and pepper colored chipmunk!

Maureen...thanks so much for making me feel like a strong person, and for your prayers...and yes, I believe forthrightness is a word.

Nan...thanks so much for your prayers...and I do agree with you, if you have a choice whether to pray for me or for my hair...please choose me, but my hair would appreciate a boost also, because the part that fell out last time has only been back for a couple of weeks...maybe just making a cameo appearence.

Mother Earth...my hair as well as the rest of me thanks you immensely for the angel.
You can tell her that more than anything else in the whole world, I want to get well again.

Lyra dear we are still continuing our prayers for you in our home and i am personally praying for you and your hair. Yes some people don't realize how much self esteem our hair gives us and to me it seems you have lovely auburn red hair. And so we beg God for His mercy, but mostly Lyra that you will be well. Wigs are ok too..We love you. floria

Floria...you are truly an angel.
We do have so much of our self esteem tied up with our hair.
My hair is very thick and very straight, but it was never auburn.  It must have been the way the light was hitting it in that picture.
It was dark brown, but during the past few months it has turned very grey...and is now a salt and pepper color....which, I really like.  I always thought I would hate grey hair, but it actually is very becoming.  I would send you a photo but the grey really doesn't show up in photos...it just looks black.
During the first time I had chemo, it got very thin behind and above my ears and it looked like I had a weird scraggly haircut, but it has now grown back in those areas...just in time for more chemo, of course.  My oncologist says that he doesn't think I'll lose it with this chemo...but I am afraid to hold out too much hope....especially since its getting too warm to wear a hat, like I did all winter...and I hate wigs...they all make me look like I have too much hair, and they look artifical.  They are also hot and itchy....but if thats what it takes to get well, I'm willing to wear one.
Thanks for all of your caring and your prayers.

Lyra...your responses are full of so much strength and hope! Bless you.  While he is not a chipmunk, I have a very, very old Squirrel in the back yard, who is turning silver with age...So of course, he has earned the name Silverback and sets a fine example of what can't be done...by doing it. I have a feeling I won't be able to look at him without thinking of you...

He is quite the feisty little individual...and I have seen him stamp his foot and chase all the young'uns away, and then that very same irasicible character seemingly talks to them, and they run around scampering and end up bringing him treats...

He suns himself on a very well worn cottonwood limb, bleaching out his own fur, I suppose, just to be the different one of the bunch ...

I continue to keep you in my prayers, my dear...and there will be more e-mails to come...

Karilea...thanks so much for the cute story about your squirrel named "Silverback".
If I keep my hair, maybe I'll call myself "Silverchip" LOL.
The reason I chose the name "Madame Chipmunk" is because my husband, David's pet name for me is "Chipmunk".  He says that I behave like one because I scurry around so fast and I also look like one because ....I just look like one.  I even got a vanity license plate for my car, which says "CHIPMNK"....we're only allowed 7 letters in Michigan.  I added the "Madame" so that everyone would know I was a female.
Thanks for all of your prayers.
