The Wonder of Martie Daintiness of little girl Sweeping back a golden curl Passion of a woman’s quest Throbbing deep within the breast Smoothness of an artist hand Paintbrush dreams at her command Eye that captures different ways For pencil’s etching of a phrase Eyes that see a different view Twisting words that rapture you All the greatest minds that be Cannot conceive what they can’t see Nor have they ever had a thought Of simple visions never taught The little things we cannot gauge Turn up so real on Martie’s page I’d never really seen the moon Until she wrote with feathered plume The words that she so softly laid In phrases no one ever made She twists the misty into clear What drifts afar, she gathers near Until you feel a vital part Of verses written from her heart ‘Tis I who dance upon her stage A mirror of the poets page She writes that I may be deceived That verse of me to be believed It could be any one of us Scrolled on her page in powdered dust The real is written as the real And kindred to her verse I feel I never saw a moon that way Until I read her poem one day Congratulations, Martie on 8,000 posts To one of the greatest talents I have known HUgs, LIz [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 09-22-2001).] |

Logan--Your words mean a great deal to me...thank you! Dear Liz: Today is my 59th birthday. I got up feeling like lying back down, for 59 is so close to the edge of something and I didn't want to look over. It is early here...the sky has not awakened and I am by myself. When I sat down at the computer with my cup of coffee, I thought perhaps I would find a friend here...and I found your lovely poem. Liz, I can't think of a better birthday present, (although I wished for world peace on some candles yesterday...and blew out every single one.) Your sweet and heart sent words brought tears to my eyes, because lately I have felt that my words didn't have much meaning. But, if they can effect one person, who is so dear to me, in this way, then I am blessed with a gift. So, I better get my butt in gear, get out of the morose I've been in, and write. I love you, Liz thank you for being you today |
