If you haven't seen this piece from Leonard Pitts, Jr., Miami Herald, perhaps it will help.
(Writing anything myself is beyond me just now, so I offer this . . .)

I've received this particular message from some half-dozen e-mails.  His words ARE crossing the world...

And add my two cents he isn't talking about justice he is talking about revenge and who has the biggest gun.

Thank you Krawdad! Very empowering words and a tight reminder of our strength and quest for justice.
quote:
"We are not weak. Indeed, we are strong in ways that cannot be measured by arsenals."

I understood that he was talking about justice in this quote not the measure for gun for gun.

We are together. Hang in there and I appreciate you. God Bless.

Sincerely,
Regina

rwood- here we are again.  I must stand by what I said earlier and infact I will put a quote from the article above so you may see where I am comming from.

"But there's a gulf of difference between making us bloody and making
us fall. This is the lesson Japan was taught to its bitter sorrow the
last time anyone hit us this hard, the last time anyone brought us
such abrupt and monumental pain. When roused, we are righteous in
our outrage, terrible in our force. When provoked by this level of
barbarism, we will bear any suffering, pay any cost, go to any length,
in the pursuit of justice. "

He has equated that what has happened recently is just like what happened at the end of World War 2 and also implies that what we did to end the war was justice.  How is the taking of millions of innocent lives be justice?  The end of that war proved that we had the biggest gun to the entire world.  I am not saying that we will use nukes or chemical warfare but more or less show them who is stronger in the military sense.  Goes back to basic school yard tatics, "you hurt me so I am going to hurt you even worse."  That kind of thinking has no place when dealing with adults on a global scale.  Anyway I think I have explained the biggest gun here so I will take my leave for now.

White Wolf:

I will be the first to call a truce. I agree to disagree. His quote highlighted did seem harsh. I had read it, along with the whole article. But...I'm a passionate person and all my emotions come out passionately, especially my anger. With that in mind I am not quick to judge that one comment. But I'll be the first to say that I am wrong if in fact his article was based on the bully factor. Believe me I would! But I still feel that his writing was just an extreme emotional outburst due to the horrific crime. I still do not feel he meant we should obliterate the world. I think it makes us more angry that we don't even know exactly who did it. It's the worst sense of....Rape... in a loss for other words.

Revenge will bite us in the hind end! But that is not the voice I carry. I want justice served for the crime. Fitting the crime. If there is a way to do it and I have to leave that up to the proper authorities. But that's the great thing about this country. We have freedom of speech! And if by chance the guilty did get ahold of that quote, and felt a little fear....I have to be honest and  say "FEAR THAT" a while..and maybe he would falter long enough for us to find out who the heck he is and bring him to justice. But somehow I don't think he did.

As you quoted about the playground scenario. I can't stand a bully. But I have learned from my own personal experience, when attacked (constantly) sometimes not until you fight back will your tormentor turn from a bully into a friend. That being a last resort for me, but still a resort if I am being pounded to a smear.

Incidently, I didn't mean to bully your replies. I did seem to pick out things but not intentionally. I apologize for seeming to give an uppercut to your post, and hope there is still an avenue for friendship. We can learn from each other. Besides, I have no gun, just a horse, a big white one that will ride for justice.

Sincerely,
Regina

rwood-  A truse?  I wasn't aware that one was needed.  I niether felt attacked or threatened.  If you did then it is I that must apologize.  The way I see it is that we are just two people voicing our feelings and opinions.  Maybe rather passionately but voicing them just the same.  I have a lot of respect for you and the things you have said.  Not many people will engage me in a debate, if I may call it that, or discussion with this level of passion.  As for an avenue for friendship, it is open.  My best friends wouldn't be my friends if they couldn't voice themselves to me when our opinions and feeling are different.  If you want a friendship I freely offer it.  Well I have better return to my peanut gallery before they get out of line.
