Dear Ron and Poets All

I want to thank you all for doing something for me. One, for being here to accept posts, for allowing us to critique each other, for being open to ideas and suggestions and above all, for accepting us “as we are,” with our foibles, idiosyncrasies, etc. And all of this is free! The only barriers I’ve seen are “courtesy, values, trust, consideration, rules of kindness and regulations as where to post.” All of the good poets step over these barriers with ease. The work Ron and the other moderators do for this site is remarkable, to say the very least.

Second, call it Fate, God’s hand, I don’t know, but I found this place at a very critical time in my life. I knew I had to go through a change, a big one for me, for health’s sake, let alone my peace of mind, etc. In doing this “change of life” modification, I knew I was going to have plenty of time on my hands and mind. I wondered what I would do with this newly found sense of space and time, and energy.

And now you all know! My urge to write has returned ten-fold, perhaps more, because of the changes I’ve made for myself. Then I found netpoets.com solely by accident, and I think I can honestly say I wasn’t even looking. If I was looking, I didn’t know what I was searching for, but Fate, or God, knew I needed to be in a place like this, and brought me here. Mostly, I enjoy immensely being able to read other poets works, learning that all of these individuals share common concepts, and that the community continues to grow.

I’ve tried, albeit humbly and most ineptly, to thank you in poetic verse, and I’m not sure you’ve seen that. So, let me give you my sincere, heartfelt, gut-wrenching Thanks! again, for giving us a slice of heaven here on earth.

Sincerely,

Sunshine

Sunshine, I've been terribly remiss of late with my posting and responding, and I humbly apologize. Being busy is no excuse - we're all busy people! But rest assured that I have seen your poetic accolades (and those of others, too!) and very much appreciate them. Indeed, the words you recently penned in the Prose forum pulled strongly on those heartstrings you enjoy strumming, actually bringing tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat. Others have expressed similar sentiments, but few have done it so poignantly.

To be honest, it's sometimes difficult to respond to such praise without either blushing or sounding self-serving. It's more than difficult - it's impossible - to respond without feeling like a fraud. In truth, I've done so very little. It's people like Poet deVine, Nan, Balladeer, Doreen, Emmy, Craig, Tim, JP, Izzy, Red/Jen, Alwye, Ali, Elvira, Lucie, Ruth, Sy, Denise, Long John, Toerag, Christopher, Miriam, Michael, Severn, Caroline, RainbowGirl, Scott, Lenny, Walt, Andrew, Rosemary, Elizabeth, Ladycat & Darquewing, WildChild, Tara, Wolfgang, Colin, Sue, Brad, Gloria, Ryan, Phillip, Roxane, Julie, Majere/Laura, jfreak, Alain, Ed, Saxoness/Angel, Artur, Faye, one voice, Boomtown - and you, Sunshine - that have made this place what is has become. (My memory must be slipping; I seem to have left out about 1020 others…)

It's gratifying, Sunshine, to know you've received so much from our community home. It quite literally sends a chill up my spine every time someone writes that Passions (or is it PiP?) has made a difference in their lives. It just plain feels good. But you also have to know that for everything you've received from Passions, you've given back ten-fold. Your compassionate and caring heart has made a difference within these digital walls, and I think I can speak for everyone when I say we're every bit as thankful as you that you found your way here.

Ok Ron, I've pulled out my hanky...thank goodness this isn't a pity-party! I certainly didn't mean for you to go to so much work in a reply [I didn't even expect one...] but I will trumpet on your successes, kind Sir! As for heartstrings, I think I'll continue strumming on those as I can...

Sunshine-anytime, dear. And thank YOU! You have responded to my works and others' works and have also helped make it what it is! I, too, wandered onto this site by accident, and am glad I did! I have been to other interactive poetry sites, and this one is, I believe, the very best.

Long Live Passions in Poetry!

And we all thank you, Sunshine. As Ron said, you have given back tenfold for all we may have given you. We are all a family here at Passions, and you are a big part of that family.

You said it so well Karilea. I think we all came here for our own reasons and found something rare. It holds us up when we're down and grounds us when we get to 'high'. Members come and go...and return again and again. It's like home. Click your heels. There's no place like it in the world.

Wow, Karilea ... beautifully said. I can't believe this post was written almost 5 years ago, and yet, it still holds the same spirit and message as strongly as when it was first written.

Can you link me to your Prose post Ron mentioned above?  I'd love to read it as well.

Sunshine:  What a fine tribute to Passions and all the outstanding poetic people here, yourself included.   I've been here a little over three years now and can't imagine life without all of you! I am always grateful to Ron for his creating this site and sustaining it. Thanks.
