Fa la la la la, la, la, la, la
Add ideas that are nifty,
Fa la la la la, la, la, la, la.

Here's my suggestion, so what's yours?

Mine? a home made batch of cookies and a bag or two or premixed soups and biscuit mix for the cold nights! Lots of TLC and ribbons with home made cards.

Movie tickets
McDonald's Gift Certificates (good for kids)
A Music CD
A piggy bank with $5.00 in it
Give an adult an old favorite book - something they read and enjoyed as a child (thse can be second hand)
Time - Give them YOU for a day - to go shopping, to a movie, a park, whatever...more precious than any store bought gift

A recipe box filled with some of your favorite recipes.  Deliver it with a dessert made from one of your recipes in the box.

Type up a bunch of inspirational quotes, cut them into individual ones and roll up.  Tie off with a small ribbon and place them in a small wooden box you decorated yourself.

Record a cd with songs that tell someone special how you feel about them.

A house plant decorated with a few Holiday picks or ornaments.  After the holiday they can undecorate and use through the year.

A stocking filled with items like cocoa, tea, summer sausage, lip balm, gloves, fruit, etc... ( you might be surprised what you can find in the dollar stores these days.)

Take a favorite photo of you and this person and frame it in a special frame.

Wow you guys are good!  Loved a lot of your ideas, but Mark I am stealing a few of yours if you don't mind.  One thing I can do is cook - so I will share the knowledge exactly that way with some friends this year when I visit.  Off to buy the boxes, and more ink for my printer.     Thank you all so much!

Oh!  I found a recipe for ya Michael - if you can believe this!  Spam Bread  Pudding    Oh, bleck!

Love.

Love tied up in ribbons and bows with unconditional understanding.

It's not much to look at, when unwrapping, but it all comes together with great hugs.  That's when it all melds together.

Color it with kisses...and rainbow it with smiles.

Then wrap it all up with warmth, and an undeliverable promise to keep that same feeling all the years through....the recipients might not realize it just now, but in their later years, they will.

Price? Priceless.

Yeah, I know...only certain poets and readers will understand.

You guys really are funny!
Karen,
I don't remember that camp! And I made my more fourth bunt loaf of banana bread today in the last five days! Another tomorrow. I'm sorry you missed it too.

Sharon,
And my hair really is that long. I've grown it out. Makes church very interesting. Amazing how many old ladies love it and how many old people are threatened by it. But so far I have more supporters than critics. Besides, it goes with biker image. >)

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Larry, I saw you in my Facebook, and that's how I knew you looked like that guy.  You cook?  Sheesh, that Nancy Lee has it made for sure - Merry Christmas to the three of you.

Oh, and I got another great idea from someone where I live, and I just loved it.

I went to the local thrift store and got as many little teapots, pretty cups and saucers, and neat coffee mugs as I could find.  I then filled them with imported tea and coffee samples.  I added a couple of home-made shortbread to the presentation, and wrapped them in clear red and green cellophane and curly ribbon.  They turned out GREAT and were a real hit with the senior shut-ins I took them to. They cost on average $3. to pull together, so what a bargoonie this was!

Simplicity ... and yep, it works~

$10.00 worth of gas in the auto ...
and several visits to my area retirement homes for spreading just a little joy and love~

$10.00 worth of ink to print up the poem-cards
for delivering to those cooped up in the retirement homes with no one else to visit them~
(I ask in advance and am graciously given a list of them)

Works ! !
Yes, it does ... and I get back $20.00 worth of *SMILES*~
