Is it just me or do the archives hold special meaning for other members out there. Just thinking of the people that used to be members on these blue pages before some of us even knew it even existed. I was looking not at the poems today but at the names of the poets. There are so many great poets that just disappeared. Where did they go? why would they leave poetry? I wonder who else is going to disappear what is it going to be like in 5 years? does anyone else wonder this?

Well, I was here for the bulk of that time and yeah, folks come and go but that is normal in a living environment.  Some didn't find what they were looking for and went elsewhere, some became Luddites, some joined the Choir Invisible (may they rest in peace), some were just here during half-remembered college days then went corporate, some were chocked full of Muse...and then ran dry or have dry spells...all sorts of reasons. But I'm very glad the archives are there and easily accessed and searched.  Lotta good gems in there, as well as a great way to see how someone has improved over the years.

I can relate to your question, Krysti, and to Ali's comments, for I joined just a few weeks after he did. But he had a past with a lot of our originating members, and they brought the best with them to create this new world.

When I was "new" to the internet and poetry sites, I didn't realize that it was always a good thing to back up my poetry. I just entered and left behind traces of me. But when I got here, and realized what could be left, and what could be lost, then I realized I needed to "back things up." Not all sites have the integrity to make a library, or an archive, as Ron, our webmaster, has done.

As Ali said, some of our former members just won't be able to return here, but their words live on. I knew all of those who are no longer with us. I'm very grateful Ron has such foresight.

Will this site be here in five years? Will half of our 10,000 plus members still be here?

I guess you and I will have to hang around to see.

Hey Ali!
