Tattoos... Agree with 'em, don't agree with 'em. Some people think it's a form of marring the temple God gave you (Including my maternal unit). I say, God gave me a temple, I'll install stainglass windows, every temple has 'em.

So anybody on here have any tattoos, that they'll admit to that is.

I am currently "undecorated." However, I'm looking to get one of the most complicated math equations tatooed onto my back. Reason? Because I'm complicated.

The only thing I seriously recommend is a licensed professional.

I see too many "a friend did its."

Obviously they'd never had their hair done by a friend before they trusted that option.

the cool thing is the outline press, prior to the actual tattoo. If you're not sure, you can pay a small fee for that, wear it, and decide if you really want it inked in.

I have only 1. I'm very proud of it and I've recently thought of another, but as far as I know, it's not possible yet and I haven't found the perfect depiction.

I want a dragonfly with iridescent wings and colors. They have glow in the dark ink, but not iridescent, that I know of.

I have none, yet; however, my son has recently turned 18, and I promised him that I would buy him his first tatoo, and that I would also get the same thing (or some version of it) as my first ink.

What would you attempt to do...if you knew you could not fail?.

Got three, none visible: left breast, right shoulder, left upper arm above bicep.  All performed by tattooists with at least a BA in Graphic Design and for the first one, I wore a temp of the same tat, though on a smaller scale, to decide if I could live with it after mulling over it for several years.  For me, the outlining is the worst part...it's the fill in-ing where the endorphin rush hits.  Love those endorphins.

I like all of it, the line, and the coloring. It's afterwards, like two days after, then I whine and complain that it is sore or tender...LOL but I love getting it done.

Man SEA, you sure are decked out. I thought only sailors had that many tattoos but then again, your name is Sea, so that makes sense.

Reg, I couldn't agree with you more. I want someone who charges two grand to do it. I want to be overcharged! None of that $19.95 special (or however much they cost). Yeah how much do they cost?

I want several on me. The only one that I'm certain about is the equation on my back. It was either that or the Magna Carta in Latin on my chest. I decided on the math.  I pretend to draw sometimes, pretend being the key word. I drew this strange little bug that I like. I might like that on my arm or something.

Ok, pain... How much? It's not an issue with me, I'm just curious. I have a very high threshold for pain so I think I can manage it. And blood? Is there a lot of blood? Man, I am so bad with blood, I hate that I am but what can I do. Maybe I'll just read the newspaper while they're doing it.

Thanks Ess.

LOL
my dad was in the Navy... does that count?! yeah, I have a few *grin* but in the winter you would never know it. I try to keep them where they can be covered if need be. I know I'm not done yet, but probably not too many more....I think?

the pain isn't half as bad as they make it out to be on tv. That is a joke...the closer to bone you get, the more it hurts, I think. The ones on my ankles really hurt, but nothing I couldn't stand, clearly. The ones on my inner wrists hurt pretty bad too, but again, nothing I couldn't stand. And when it's over there is this beautiful piece of art on your body....

Why not get an impermanent tattoo?

Even better, why not just get a custom designed shirt or coat with the image/artwork you wish?

No offence, but please don't presume to know my reasons for not doing something. My life and choices don't revolve around my appetite and "wants".

Two here thanks actually to Sea's encouragement.       I have a Celtic triquetra on my inside lower arm, and a small willow tree that is hidden from view to most anyway.         The ones that are colored hurt to have done way more than black, trust me!  I watch Miami Ink and swear I am going to go there before I croak to have one done.  My entire existence revolves around my wants - and a little Carpe' Diem thrown in for good measure.  I am thinking about putting an ohm sign my neck now Sea.

I saw the topic and wondered how many of the replies would be Susan's. Haha - you sure found one of her high spots!

I only have one at the moment, a tribal band kinda thing of my own design, but am working on finishing my next one - a depiction of the caffeine molecule.

None. But I have one in mind. Just not sure how you find an artist on the skill level of Miami Ink. It will be a heart with my daughter's signature on it.

Larry, that is beautiful. you should go to tattoo shops, and look at the artist's work. Normally, they have a photo album with pictures of tattoos they have done, and you can see if they are good or not. Is the place open and clean? What is their reputation? If you see folks with ink, ask them where they got it and if it's a bad tattoo, don't go there, and if it's good, you see what I mean. Do your homework and you will find someone that will do a great job and make you happy.
