Hi everyone!

I have MISSED you!

Alrighty ... Enquiring minds want to know …

***

What’s your favorite “get up and dance” song?

I’m playing and reading here at Passions, getting back into the swing of things bit by bit (loving every minute of it by the way), and in the background, I’m listening to a bunch of songs I downloaded from Limewire (boy, I love that thing).

So ...

What’s your favorite “get up and dance” song?
What gets your feet tapping?
What gets your toes dancing?
What makes you pop out of that chair and dance with abandon like there’s no tomorrow (and no one watching, lol)

What makes you feel soooooo good you can’t contain yourself?

For me?

It’s gotta be “Superfreak”, lol.

Yup, you heard it right ... Rick James and Superfreak, rofl.

OK, confess ... what gets you moving?

Maybe it will give me ideas to download a few more good ones (there's method in my madness).

(ps, it took me ages to write this because I kept jumping up to dance!)

Helllllllllllo Gorgeous!

And this? Well, once upon a time, even the neighbors knew when the kids were safely seen to the busstop and the hubby was at work, and made my coffee kick in double-time--
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XKuxxZ2JCI

It's good for, um, horizontal dancing too!

Ack! Love that one Karen! Helloooooooo to you too! ;>

Now see? That's what I need! I couldn't remember the name of that one when I was downloading some of their other ones. I'm terrible with titles. I brought down "Thunderstruck", "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" and ummmm "I've got Big ummmm, somethin'".

Wonderful to seeeeeeee you! OK, on my way to download now!

Head-banging should remain on the "what I usedta do" list!

Here you go Karen … I don't know if these are too tame or not, but I’ve been concert hopping the last 2 years - ever since our city finally built a decent stadium, lol. We're finally getting good acts!

I got a chance to recently see Billy Idol, Billy Joel and Rod Stewart. I’m seeing Stevie Nicks in 2 weeks. Having way too much fun!

As I read "too tame", just know that I had to calm myself down with some Cat Stevens and Joni Mitchell...

my tastes and interests do vary.

But unfortunately, I got a bit carried away with all my winders open...

but I love the share going on here.

(and pssssssssst...Rumor has it, there's some interesting poetry available on youtube--from--gasp--PIP POETS!)

LOL, loving it here too Karen.  I’m still going.  You have no idea what you’ve started over here in my little world, rofl.

Rob Thomas & Santan – Smooth (this is a close one to my fav toe-tappin/dancin’ song) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuqganBGykU

Gwen Stefani – What ya waiting for? Another toe tapper. Gotta say, I love this from a “poetry writer’s block” point of view too. It takes a while to reach the song, but it’s a good song! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TWCk1WtKPM

Oh boy … Nazareth – Hair of the Dog!  (showing my age now!) This is too cool Karen! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJ66UO-iKpc&mode=related&search=

Robbie Williams – Angels (absolutely love this and him) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LF8unwxhNho

PS … what did you mean about poetry and YouTube??? Do tell?

OK, I've got a few more for you Karen.

David Lee Roth-Gigalo – California Girls (just love the video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmbhfI8f_Ek

Can’t have the above without this one, lol. Love Van Halen, but thought it was hilarious when he came up with these on this own. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbXPHiyE7uE

Animotion; Obsession (just always liked this one) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqVNXRrvuLM

Brownsville Station – Smokin’ in the Boy’s Room (an oldie but a goody) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXfVn29p3ZQ

Boy, I'm sure I'm showing my age by now, eh? What a dislexic mix of songs I've got, lol. I could keep searching for oldies forever here. I honestly had no idea what all was on YouTube ... now I'm in trouble, lol. I've found the home of my 70's and 80's videos, lol.

and oh the singer's name escapes me now but you can find it on limewire, that is where I get all my stuff too...
the song is called Born to be Alive. That song makes me happy any time I hear it.

I think it's by Rodger and Zapp a song called Do whah diddy?? and more bounce to the ounce...that is fun..

pretty much anything from the 80's does it for me.

PYT from Michael Jackson...that is so fun.

Down at the Twist and Shout by Mary Chapin Carpenter

I like others as well like:
Rockin' Robin
Mustang Sally
American Woman

My favorite slow dance would have to be
Too Much to Lose by The Kentucky Headhunters.

When I was in high school, I woul have no choice but to start dancing like a fool every time I heard South Street....but one came along later on that makes me explode every time I hear it and makes it impossible for me to sit still. I have it on cassette and when I listen to it while driving, traffic around me thinks I'm having a seizure. It's called Ida Red by the New Christy Minstrels on their album Cowboys and Indians. I dare anyone to listen to it and attempt to remain still....can't be done. The only song that has ever come close for me is Can Can.

Kit! Your a belly dancer? I don't believe it! Please send a copy of your certificate and enclose a photo of your belly.

Hey Sharon!  Shoop Shoop right back atcha … I love that one. That’s one of those all time “feel good” ones.

Ida Red’s definitely a toe-tappin’, knee slappin’, good fiddlin’ classic Michael. Love the visual of you trying to drive with that playing, lol.  I love the Can Can too!  When I was about 17, I performed that on stage at the Oktoberfest with a friend's German dance troop, lol! Sheesh … I’d totally forgotten about that!  I found one rendition here!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5Zj0dowvKo

Sue, I’ll have to pass that Floyd Kramer one along to my sister. She’s getting back into the piano, and that’s an excellent piece ..

Here ya go Larry! Boy, I can’t believe how much you can find here! Love this one too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eo5M3HsIAY

Oh … Prairechild – Footloose never fails to get me going … Good One! When that comes on the radio, it gets me going every time!

Wow ... this collection is getting better and better, thanks everyone! I've got a lot of downloading on Limewire ahead of me, lol. Wonderful suggestions!

I've been doing a lot of home renovations the last 2 years, and the whole time I'm working, or painting, or tiling, or whatever, I've usually got some great old 70's or 80's CD playing in the background (it helps me work better)

I think if I had all the songs above playing ... I'm not sure if it would either help me work faster ... or slower if I stop to dance too often, lol!

Slow dances, for when your toes slows:

"Me and Mrs. Jones,"  Billy Paul
"When a Man Loves a Woman,"  Percy Sledge
"Tell It Like It Is,"  Aaron Neville

HORRIBLE FLASHBACK:  Five years of tap dance lessons!

EVEN WORSE FLASH BACKS:  "The Bird is a Word,"  The Trashmen (aka Ernie Kovacs,) and "Running Bear," Johnny Rivers.

No wonder I'm daft.  I was raised by radio!

Questions:

1.  Any NY/NJ/CT folks remember "Jocko's Rocket Ship" on WNJR and local TV Channel 13?

2.  Or how KOMA Oklahoma, a 50,000 watter, would bounce in around one AM, and "Ma and Pa Rainey And His Talking Hound Dog Harmoinca"  would come in from Canada around two or three?

3.  Any body want to start a "Worst Song Ever" thread?

Best, Jim

Dirty Laundry.

Kick em when they're up, kick em when they're down...
