I am having a party for my late sister's birthday tonight, and it wouldn't be a party without you all, so, with all of my dubious authority, I, serenity blaze, do hereby declare January 13 a holiday--in honor of my beloved sister Cathy, the first twisted sister to arrive for planetary duty. In keeping with the theme of her spirit, I declare and constitute January 13, 2006 to be the first official "Beautify Your Life" day, because that is what Cathy did for us, and now we all have to work very hard to continue what she started. I'm inviting you all to help us celebrate her life, and the following are merely suggestions:

Have a night of "mellow".

Light some candles.

Wear something pretty.

You must smell wonderful, too.

Listen to soothing music.

And? grin..re-arrange something in your home so that it looks fresh and wonderful and welcoming.

Because that is exactly what she did.

Say a prayer or two, laugh a little, cry a little and don't forget to sing tonight. Let me know how things turn out.

Well, the kid's at the Y swimming, then going to a buddy's for a sleepover, so I'm available and very much in need of a "mellow" evening...

Hmmmm, think I feel like playing DJ.

Vinyl.

Dan Fogelberg.  Souvenirs.

Yep and isn't it a full moon tonight?

Let the celebrations begin.

To Cathy and her sisters
To beauty appreciated
To life, here and there

In honor of Cathy's day, The Twisted Sister of January 13, for all time to come....

I am listening to some of my favorite music....

I have one of my favorite smelling candles burning [you may remember, burning was not allowed for the longest time...Cathy's spirit prevails!]...

I put on my favorite night wear, which happens to bear all of New Orlean's Mardi Gras colors....

and now I must go find something to move, in order to improve the appearance.

whoops....that's probably not allowed...

Happy Birthday, Cathy.

And thank you, serenity...my last email bounced back for some reason - so we need to continue what we were continuing....

Yes, Serenity I shall do most if not all of these things in honor of Cathy.

Candles are lit-lovely soothing Lavender scent.
Music-Enya, Only Time
Smell good-Pleasures by Estee Lauder.
Bright, but comfortable clothes.

Move something to make it more welcoming here..hmm...let me think on that one.

I'll say prayers, cry a little, and sing a lot.

And, toast the twisted sisters with a glass of Merlot.

*Clink*  to  Cathy.
    To Beauty..
   Love & Light.

I'll sit a lawn chair in my yard
When all have gone to bed,
A blanket placed across my lap
A pillow for my head...
A crystal goblet in my hand,
Perhaps a nice chablis,
A cigarette between my lips,
Smoke rising lazily.

I'll close my eyes and concentrate
On Nature's symphonies..
The rustle of the fallen leaves
Two-stepping with the breeze..
The muted hum of distant cars,
The flap of passing birds,
The dialogue we seldom hear
Drowned out by human words.

I'll set my senses to the max
My cheeks will feel the breeze,
My nose will fill with daffodil
My ears with buzzing bees..
My body will be mine no more
But fused in tune with All.
My mind will be an empty canvas
Fifty stories tall.

I'll feel my pulse against my skin,
I'll hear my heatbeat's drum
I'll note the brilliance of the stars
Death cannot overcome.
I'll feel my insignificance
And I will feel my worth.
I'll be at peace with where I fit
With all things on this earth.

I'll understand there must be more
Than this game of pretend
And something out there waits for us
When time comes to an end
And I will be at peace with knowing
Life and death are one...
a final toast held skyward
Then to bed.....the day is done.

What a beautiful remembrance, Karen.  I will make it a marked holiday on my calendar.  I wish I'd read this earlier.  I did call my sis, a Cathy, too, and we had a nice long chat and I shared something with her which might make her world a more beautiful one -- does that count?  Other than that, I've got four minutes left until midnite (central time), so I'll go light a candle now.   ....jo

Ah but she was an Aquarius no wonder she was a gentle soul that smelled so good.  I had a "still" night in her memory to join you in honor of her life, and wish I could just have been there to give you, Twist, your Mom, and her hubby a big hug.

Tonight was more lovely than I had dared to hope. I smell like five different shaving lotions, and all from my nephews...I was amazed they all showed up!

Thank you, thank you all, for putting a blessing on something that needed to be tonight.

We had a nice time.

I really hope that you all did too.

It went so well, I think I'll do it again next year.

thank you

I am smiling, sooooooooooo wide.

I made oatmeal raisin cookies and a special dessert with oatmeal, peaches, raisins and spices, that made the home smell warm and inviting.
Hoping Cathy enjoyed the aroma and thoughts.
No perfumes or candles that night, but a cheery turquoise color shirt might have been enough.
And I rearranged some things in the kitchen,
fengshui style, allowing the positive energy to flow.
Tonight, I shall light a scented candle, in her honor.
