Just sending smooches to all my brothers and sisters here at Pip. ( to Alicat, since I know he reads everything here)

Love to all, and I wish I had more time to hang out, but I have to go back to the camp.

For those who have been wondering, it's a private camp, and yes, it's a one room house with a kitchenette and bath, screened in porch. (The porch is serenity headquarters. I have a desk out there, box fan, tv and an air mattress. I don't bother the snakes as long as they don't bother me. Okay, so I petted one, but he was too cute to pass up...little baby garter snake.)

I've lived in much worse, and we're all fine, but yeah, we work each other's nerves.

It's very hard to sit and wait, knowing how much work is waiting for us.

In the meantime, know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I am gonna explode with gratitude one of these days.

I'll be around...

Sounds like you're as well as we could hope... Now I hope  you get back to your home in fairly quick order so that you can begin to recoup.  I hear they're allowing some folks back into town now.  This is an ordeal of a lifetime for sure.  You're one strong lady, m'friend...

It's good to see you here. You have an amazing spirit and will get through this - hopefully with your sense of humor intact! I think you're giving a hole new meaning to 'cabin fever' though and once you get back to your home and to a normal life, I bet you all hide in your separate rooms for a week just to have some 'space'. Take it one day at a time - keep your smile - and don't let it get to you. You've had a rocky couple of years emotionally but today is the first day of the rest of your life....

I miss you kiddo!

What, no pet boas? no gators?
Cramped is still better than any group shelter.
My daughter and I lived for over a year in a 9'x12' cabin in Alaska, with no running water, and a pathetic wood stove for heating and cooking. Now I enjoy my shower and modern conveniences, but some days the neighbors (I live in a small city in a duplex) are just way toooo close, and I find myself fondly remembering living in booneyville with four changes of clothes, a notepad, some books & a doodling sketchbook.   Somehow, I believe you'll do far better than survive this adventure, and write that novel that's been hiding inside.

Markman got me a corn snake!

I have named him "Mr. Crowley", although I don't really know if he is a he--the snake guy said I'd have to stick a probe up its butt to find out.

And hugging you all, Dark Angel Maree, I need your snail mail addy too. And C? I just tried to write you, but yahoo is dragging today, but I wanted to tell you that just one week I did something you had warned me against--I publically announced I was "seriously" bored. I didn't know the meaning then.

Thank you all for your generosity and kind prayers as well.

I'm so homesick it ain't even funny.

I'm just waiting on word from the EPA that it is safe to go back. Right now, we hear there are pockets of places with power on, but there are still military checkpoints, etc. As for future plans, I'm afraid we just don't know. But I'm looking around Crowley and Lafayette, and I'm liking what I'm seeing.

It would be hard to give up New Orleans (cause no, I don't believe it is gone forever) but I thought about it, and the truth is, I never went out anyway.

When I say I'm "homesick"--it's cause I miss Pip. This is home.

I'll try to get copies of pics for you all soon.

ta for now...

Paulie!

Ain't it awful? I can't watch the news much...it brings me down.

But I am so happy to hear you are safe.

We're still missing some folks too, but we try to maintain the attitude that they ARE alright.

If you're in Crowley, just ask around town about the refugees at Mike's camp. They'll give you directions as to which dirt road you should take...laughing. (We're already almost famous.)

Sending love and hugs to you all.

I have to go buy some mice. Shaking my head.
First I had too many of 'em, now I have to go buy em.

I love you all...and thank you.

You ever get the feeling yer being followed?

Love to all...and yep, I'll be around.

I sure am getting around.

Looking at property in the Ozarks now. One house comes with a cave.

The hubby thought I was joking.

Um...no.

So let me get this straight you are trading in hurricanes for droughts and floods, and the odd tornado for good measure.  (Don't ya remember Dorothy?   You are looking to live in an Ozark house, that just happens to come with an extra cave as a perk? Hey wait that could be a good thing, our Yeti needs a cave!  So, this is a good move, you could kill two birds with one stone and get both you and our Yeti accommodations. However, now when I say, "Hey are you from Missouri or what?  You can just simply say, "Yup and I party hardy at Ha Ha Tonka State Park too."

Oh I love your sense of humor, but it is not helping me be just a tad worried up here again. Glad you are staying put - very glad.

psst Shawn - that's what a Yeti looks like

It aint paranoid if somebody(thing) really is chasing you!  And if it's a windbag named Rita -- no shame in running hard and far.

It's not safe to go back anyway.  A simple rainstorm could breach at this point.

Hi Everyone,

Karen called earlier and she asked that I tell you that she is no dummy!   She is sure not going to New Orleans to be rescued from some rooftop!

What she is doing, is buying more plastic containers at Wal-Mart today to keep what little they do have in, (just in case,) and staying put where they are until it looks like they have to leave.  If that happens they will drive north and stay "somewhere" for a night or two until the coast is clear to go back to the hunting camp.

She wondered if you could all just blow at the same time on Thursday and see if you can shift that damn hurricane away from Crowley

She sounded really positive, and man do I admire that in her.  She is one strong woman I tell you.

Wish them luck folks for again, she and a lot of our other friends need it.  All the folks in Florida, Texas, good grief!

My lord I don't know about you but I can't take this much longer, and worry myself sick.
