Nan,

way cool . . . I will be there too . . .
I am about 10 minutes away from the Falls.

PLUS I seriously need a roadtrip . . . to like CA or AZ . . . or Maine, and Toronto plus I seriously need to go camping.

my plans are to be able to spend less time at the doctors/hospital....

...to go to the beach all day..then go home shower, and get dressed to go to dinner with friends, then walk the beach at night...as often as I can.

those are my plans.

I was going to take my kids to Washington, DC for the 4th, and do the tourest-y thing there, and maybe see the Sunset Parade at Marine Barracks at Eighth and I streets... maybe I can take them to DC another weekend, and find our way to Niagra... it would be cool to finally get to see some friendly faces froom the blue pages...
We'll have to see what the world holds for us.

They took pictures of our dreams
Ran to hide behind the stairs
And said maybe when it's right for you, they'll fall

Um...yea.  Find a comfy camping chair, hike down to the falls [less than a block from my house - not picture perfect, but they SOUND good...] and let my muse take me all over the globe...

I'm going home to Alaska to visit for 3 weeks.

But, most of the summer I'll be working

Fishing tender or cannery?  Have kinfolk who lived in Alaska for many years, on Kodiak Island by Kenai.  Every summer, my uncle and his two sons would go on tenders.  And since they owned and lived in a cannery, they'd can everything and sell it, all while homeschooling the boys.  They didn't go to public school until 12th and 10th grade, and promptly caught chickenpox.

I've since lost touch with them, having moved around a bit myself, but last I heard they were still going to Alaska to work tenders every summer.  If you can do the work, you can make enough in a few months to last you all year.

My summer plans are too:

Watch my babygirl master crawling, then walking, and listen to that sweet little voice as she says da-da and ma-ma over and over again...

And?

Watch the other three kids bounce off the walls.

Get some websites done for some clients,
write more, and pick from the bounty of our garden-

Watermelon, squash, peppers, okra, cucumbers and tomatoes

Yummy..... tomato and cucumber sammiches are just around the corner.

That's cool Ali....I've never actually done that but I've heard you can make some good money.  Have you ever been up there???  You should get in contact with them and go up there and visit.  I get 3 weeks away from Oregon and I'm thinking it will be great!!!!

I've been in the desert too long.  Anything lower than 75 F is sweater weather. *chuckle*

75 would be a blessing here! Today I clicked on the radio station's website to see what the temp would be [in order to TRY to dress appropriately?] and it just said

HOT

Go figure!

Anything above 75 degrees and I feel like the permafrost is melting.  It got up to 87 where I'm at today.  UGH!!!  But, that was why after just starting my 6th summer in Oregon I bought an air conditioner.  There's no way I could live in California or Arizona.  One of my best friends that I grew up with lived in Texas for 2 1/2 years.  An Alaskan boy.  I still don't know how he survived.

If I had put that comment in, Ringo, this discussion would be in Grok This. *chuckle*

Speaking of which, heat index should be around 125 here today, thanks to about 40% humidity.  This is monsoon season.  Some rain, but mainly buttnasty outdoor conditions.

Spend a lot of time on Saturday's at the Farmers' Markets, spend some time at Cannon Beach and Seaside, go shopping downtown at some of the funky shops downtown and off of Burnside, already went to the Blues Fest and a friend gave me tickets something called Country Fest in St. Helen's. That's supposed to be next Saturday, and otherwise just work on my college work and try to learn something.

Thoughts? Summer?? Aren't those two terms mutually exclusive?
