Michigan's official Tulip Festival runs from May 7-14 this year, at which time it's estimated our tulip crop will be at the height of its glory. I live about a hundred miles south of Holland, but my own tulips appear to be on a very similar schedule.

Most of them, that is?

Haven't you heard of a Tulip Scout? One tulip is chosen as the bravest tulip bulb in the flower bed. Then, uncertain that the last of the winter snowstorms are over, this brave lone tulip peeks up and blooms. If he/she lasts without getting frozen, they sing the tulip praises all spring and if the tulip is frozen and dies, they pay tribute to him/her in the Tulip Festival. Either way, you've got a hero on your hands Ron.

Looks like they might be ready in time for the festival.  Gee, maybe you can show us all a picture of the show of tulips in Holland, as that would be great to see.

You're looking for tulips Ron?
Try this: http://home.quicknet.nl/qn/prive/vogelenzang/Bollenveld%20bij%20traliebrug%20Vogelenzang.htm

And if that's not enough, we have quite a few fields more

Tulips? Did someone say "TULIPS"?

Holland has a couple tulips for sure...

Who's that out scouting for them?

Look a little  harder... They're right behind you...

Oh yeah - There they are!!

Think they're as pretty as Titia's?  The fields aren't quite as large - But maybe one row at a time?

Or maybe a lip or tu at a time?

Just beautiful pictures Nan and Ron!  I wonder did you see any double ones like these by any chance?

These bulbs were actually bought from a Sears flyer, and we got so many colors - they are so big, that they almost look like a peony when full!

I love the pictures! Wow, that's such a beautiful spot.

Now as for those wooden shoes ... I think I'll stick to my sneekers, lol.

Reminds me.  Gonna have to call Dad and have him take some photos of the tulips he's been crossbreeding since 1986.  When I left Texas in 1999, he had made a dominant strain of a deep purple/black tulip with black striations.  Truly a beautiful tulip with subtle shadings.

Seems you two sure had fun in Holland.

And then, in a few weeks, all the flowerheads are being cut off in order to let the bulbs grow and multiply and they put all those flowerheads into beautiful designed wagons and make a parade through the big cities.
http://www.bloemencorso-bollenstreek.nl/ just push on ' het corso'

or type 'bloemencorso' in google.

Have fun

Titia, never in my life have I seen such a beautiful thing!  That float with the tulips made from real tulips, is simply incredible!  Thank you for the link, and I sent it around to a lot of Canadians to see it.  It's wonderful seeing what other countries are up to.
