I have a running date with my daughter to watch this show, and I just started watching mid-way of last season.

This year, I haven't missed a show. (My daughter loves my mean comments--she gets a particular thrill when Simon says the same thing I did.)

But anyhow, I just want to say I'm very impressed this year's offerings.

I'm curious to hear what others might think.

So......for them that ain't weary of it all, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I missed the auditions but tonight i caught the 12 guys perfoming and out of them all I liked only 3, and they were "the rocker" Bo, also the one that sang the Stevie Wonder number, "Part Time Lovers" and Mario Vasquez.. anyway looking forward to watching the Gals perform on Friday night. Oh and Simon Cowl (sp) he's rude and crude but man I like him....er...most of the time heh

I enjoy the show...and have trouble with hearing half the girls singing the right notes( sorry I don't know why half my sentence was  missed *s)... I think the guys are great this year..I also like the Music teacher and the  blond haired one who they keep saying is similar to Clay Aiken...and of course both the rockers.

The girls last night weren't as good as the guys. I will always like  Carrie Underwood and I loved Jessica and Nadia..but I think it's time for Mikalah and Janay to go..I thought Janay should have gone last week. I think it was their choice of songs that didn't show off their voices enough thus making them less  exciting than the others to listen to.

Just my opinions.

I'd do Nadia.

and moan...Bo...Bice?

thrice?

sigh...heart flutters

but? that music teacher could make me hit a few high notes too.

Karen's prediction?

It's the guys all the way this year, and yep, I love Bo...but methinks that Andre'music man would have a better chance if he rocked a number next week. (If he re-works another classic I shall say "Arggh")

But yet?

He's "buttah."

And let's just give that chick Michaela (sp?) a screen test right now.

She's an actress, not a singer.

(I'm talkin' to YOU Simon!)

stepping back in to agree with Maree.

Simon is sexy. In a weird sorta way...

I'd like to see the look on his face when I...well--you get the idea.

I agree..my first thought was that Mikaela was trying to be too much like Barbra Streisand...and her  choice of song was terrible for her deep voice.

I believe they are looking for someone whose singing range is greater than some of those girls have. I think the Guys are great looking and great singers. Scott  has a smooth  voice but his looks may keep him out..sad to say.

There are too many guys  who are complete packages this year...and I believe one will be the idol...maybe even runners up too..but the girls who make it towards the final weeks still have good futures ahead of them.

And the Music teacher looks better every week.

I was totally pissed when the blonde country type singer did a beautiful rendition of Janis and they tore it right up, I do not like anyone doing Janis and she did it beautifully.

I like her and the chick with the afro, although she has been doing poorly lately.

The music teacher is my bet, Susan  *grin*
I love him and he deserves it, although I also like the Pearl Jam dude . . .

that Constantine has got ta go . .
he is a serious Dave Mustaine Megadeath wanna be . . .

*wince*

I had to watch "The Swan!" too!

(My daughter somehow gets more enjoying watching me watch the program!)

She started this nonsense, and now? Heh. I like it.

I watch Survivor too. But that's just 'cause I met that bartender chick Angie once.

Methinks it is a slam dunk that Bo and Nadia are the top two contendenders if we're basing the outcome on kinetic talent -- but remember -- the outcome is based on how America votes!   anything can happen.

There are better singers in the crop (but you'll note I said KINETIC talent) and I wish the panel would stop griping about song choices and just tell these kids;

"look -- you're up there to tell a story -- you're up there to convince us the story is true -- if you tell us the story and we believe it no one will care if you miss the pitch here and there"

That's what Bo knows, that's what Nadia knows... that's what guys like Cash and Nelson and Dylan knew.

I have a feeling that Bo is a pretty good writer too.  Constantine can do the Morrison thing pretty well but he doesn't keep the mystique going after the performance -- if he'd do that we wouldn't care if he hit a sour note here or there either.

Anwar is the charming music teacher. He was dressed MetroChic in slender black, unpleated, slightly flared slacks and a streamlined black turtleneck with his hair tied back to not break up the overall clean line. I think he is awesome. Can ya tell?  He has a very warm and friendly personality AND he is intelligent to boot.

Overall, I am disappointed with the women. ALL of them except maybe Nadia and Vonzell. The men rock this time, bigtime. However, Constantine needs to wash his hair. Seriously.

Mikalah and Janay are horrible. I don't know how they have lasted this long. They are too young for this competition, their immaturity shows. Plus, they can't sing. at. all.

Simon gets respect from me because he's the only judge who isn't sensitive to the participants' sensitivity. Randy and Paula are doing them no favors. I understand why Simon keeps telling (the viewing audience AND the other judges) that this is a COMPETITION....because some seem to forget it.

That's it for now....except...

GO ANWAR!

ahaha I agree, thanks for the name Chanson . . . I adore him - he deserves to win.

OMG Maree yes, that dude just aggravates me to death, that "act" has been done all over the place plus, yes he is dirty, looks dirty and not that sexy kinda dirty either.

I agree about not having your choice to watch just anything seeing as I have a total of four whole channels, it is re-runs of Seinfeld, Becker and King Of Queens .  . sheesh . . . but I agree with Karen . . .
I got addicted to Fear Factor because of Billy!  He loves that show!

I am such a good mommy . . . *grin*
(poor kid)

But I guess I like American Idol because once in awhile you see that one person who really has it, who will make something of themselves, who believe in themselves and that is very cool to see, even if the show is bubblegum.

ok, caught the show tonight...Anwar is adorable...and I got to hear Bo sing...he is fantastic...I don't really think I like any of the girls this time, they just don't "sparkle" for me. The only two guys I think will make it is Anwar and Bo....both are seriously good.

Girls don't do anything for me. However, if i had to choose, I'd say Carrie Underwood.

The guys.....I like Bo. Constantine...I agree with SEA. Mario is my favorite right now. I didn't like the brown hat he had on but he has a great smile. Anwar is an awesome singer...love him. The Clay Akin #2, he is o.k.!

Has anyone seen that? I'm curious.

I don't watch Elimidate either.

But American Idol I find fascinating for some reason.

Most especially, the auditions. I suffer from stagefright, so I'm consistently amazed at the courage of these people.

I give them applause just for that.

It's the men this year!  There is really only one woman in my opinion, (Nadia) who has the whole package that could be marketable.

Sea, I agree with you 100%, as to winner, and the runner up.  I never thought I would ever give a vote to a rocker on American Idol but I sure am, but for second place.

The main thing I think we have to remember is who is doing the voting, and what might they might be thinking when they vote.

I think they are all winners for having made it this far, it takes a dream, courage, and guts to follow it through, so it sounds flaky but they are all American Idols to me.

Here you go Maree -   http://www.idolonfox.com/index.htm

If yahoo search data is any indicator of the popularity and resulting outcome of the 12 finalists the results may be somewhat startling, from yahoo http://buzz.yahoo.com/buzz_log/entry/2005/03/11/0400/

from top to bottom in search ranking:

Bo Bice
Constantine Maroulis
Carrie Underwood
Mikalah Gordon

Lindsey Cardinale
Jessica Sierra

Well I was really pleased with two things tonite -- first -- Bo came back and showed Constantine how to really do Blood Sweat and Tears, and second -- Vonzell brought it on! I think Cowell is going to go back and watch that again and take back what he said because I think she rose to the occasion -- or I rose to her occasion or something... It was warm.

Nadia was superb as always -- the four that I Tivo'd back to re-watch just because I enjoyed the performances were Bo, Nadia, Vonzell, and Scott...Why should anybody be embarassed about watching this program?  It's a good old fashioned talent contest -- and there's some actual talent this time.  If I was an A&R man at a label, with the slump the record industry has been in, I'd be sitting in the lobby trying to get at least six of these twelve signed right now, before the thing is over.

Ditto your choices tonight Local Rebel.  I have to tell you that Bo is starting to steal this old gal's heart.  He sure is the package complete for the men.  I am waiting for him to do something non-rock and see his range.  Vonzell to me is more versatile than Nadia, but what do I know, and I think she did a crackerjack job tonight and will do better in time as her confidence builds.  I think most of them were intimidated by their new surroundings, and next week will be better for them all. I listen to them sing 1/2 way with eyes shut, the other half open, great for picking up real pitch.  LOL, I need a life right?  I love this show.

Bo or Constantine... im just excited that there are some rock influences in the competition.  I don't think they have as much range as the others, but would make the best idol's out of the competition.

Well I think we're down to the point now where we see the downside of having a stage full of talent -- it's going to be like Sophie's choice from here on out (with maybe the one exception I won't name).

Bye Jessica you'll be missed...
