i find myself offended.

t seems as if another pipper is trying to copy me. also, the first post of our new member seemed rather implicit.

maybe im a little paranoid, but i think this new member is perhaps an arch-poet of sort, who wishes to remain anonymous.or maybe this person is just an admirer, whom i have inspired, which would honor me, indeed.

i just hope that my fellow pippers will always recognize my authenticity, which is a trait i admire, as all else do, i'm sure.

i just thought i could share this with you all,
you are my friends after all!

lol

someone is full of it

"maybe this person is just an admirer, whom i have inspired"

puhleese

Seems i'm the one being violated here

where do you get off making accusations as this?

i don't know you i'm sorry, i've replied to a few of your poems (which i thought were great)and that is it. Just because we share a similar Monika does not mean i am copying you sheeesh.

i'm just minding my own business here

"DreamChild" suits you to the max...

keep dreaming

Don't be offended Sir.  I did a little checking into various "user names"...

There are 62 names that carry "dream" in them, many of which were registered in 1999 and 2000;

29 names that carry the word "child";

Eight that have "eternal" in their blend...

So I would suggest that if you think our newest member tried to "borrow" onto your name, nah, that couldn't be right.

It was simply a name of choice that had not yet been registered by anyone else.

And as for style - there are hundreds of poets that write freestyle, so I wouldn't worry about your style being "copied".

Oh, and just so you know?  There are some 42 "suns" registered as well, in one form or another.

So, write on, know that you have not been "violated", and enjoy each other's work.

Sunshine

well ~ec~

funny you should reply, i never mentioned your "nom de plume."

but why are you so hostile, and what was your previous pen name? the one you used to reply to my posts. ive never seen ~ec~ on any of my threads....

youre just a young un, and you bleed with aspiration.

i've always been ~DC~ here,
and thats genuine.

The whole problem with using clichés is that others are bound to use them, too.

I strongly suggest you both heed Sunshine's good advice. If someone wants to think of themselves as a child, that's cool with me, but I still expect everyone to ACT like an adult.

I guess I'm lucky, nobody wants to be a rat....

...but if someone wants to honor me by using forms I've introduced here (there are several since I'm Mr. Variety, and others have experimented with them), they're welcome to, and I'll be nothing but proud.

gee, i feel honored!

thanks for your reply Ron!
i do understand what you mean.
i just really like the "originality"
aspect.

and rat...
i did mention how i would indeed be honored should i help someone with a new idea, but i sense some hostility from this poet...

as for you ~ec~
i have no resentment towards you.
maybe we can collaborate or something.
but im gonna express myself,
like it or not.

A common denominator of "childhood" is the incessant need to get the last word in a redundant diatribe.  It seems that Ron's words aren't being heard very clearly here???

LC just checkin' in. Had that moniker since 1949. Hope that's okay! If I could just find the sand box I might like this playground.

yeah so, i trancended.
once torn between two identities, yet at the same time unified as both,
not that i am earthdust, or ~DreamChild~,
but as they are me. I choose my persona to be ~DreamChild~ here, and so by have posted
my last 200 posts.

but the issue here is this...

at the beginning of this discussion
i felt not really violated, as titled (forgive me), yet imitated. i felt, indignified, so to say. and yet flattered...
as i did so try to insinuate.

i'm sure everyone read ec's first post.
i did. i enjoyed it, and replied so,
even inquiring of my slightest relevance,
whether inspiriation, or even malice.

i do understand Ron's reply, and have considered it. it is truth, so let it be.
however, considering ec's hostility,
i still think there is more to him than meets his beady eye-cons.

ec:
you've replied to my posts... i know,
but as whom? not one reply ever from ec, maybe someone else then. you dont know me, you dont like me, i dont care, but i'm on to you,i can tolerate sharing this world with you. but not your arrogance,or stubbornness, and especially your hatred.
you got beef...
eat it.

Well, ~DC~ (or ~ed~, whatever), from my search, minus responses, you have 61 posts as ~DreamChild~.  As to ~eternal child~'s responses, the only ones I could really see to you were to this thread, though I did see one from you to ~ec~ insinuating the poem was about you.  So either you are not telling the whole story, or have a wild hair about your particular style (very hard to patent open/free verse) or PiP handle (see prior patent statement).  Either way, your behavior is fast becoming out of line according to the site guidelines, written by Ron, and the forum guidelines, written by me.  You might be well served by reading them again.

Larry :
play a little longer please.

Alicat:
advice taken. i am guilty of some, not all.
but this thread, and my posts seem to meet our forum guidelines, and philosophies.
twas e.c. that replied to this post with hostility. which is getting out of line. until that reply, i never once mentioned the poet this discussion was about.

im going to post the guidelines and philosiphies i think are related to our discussion, just for short reference, and as proof that i did heed your advice alicat.
all please review it ( and the rest of them if you want)and let me know how i have erred accordinly.

and Ron:
your input is greatly respected, and appreciated.

Well, I did overstep myself.  Ron did the forum guidelines for the Lounge.  At the moment, I forgot where I was and fancied I was in the Alley.  Now _those_ guidelines I did write.  It was only later, to facilitate the ease of moving conversational threads from the Alley to the Lounge, that I was made a mod in the Lounge.  This is what I get for staying up past my normal bedtime. (Yes, once you're over 30 those do kick in.)

ok, i'm having my last say

i have violated no one,
i have imitated no one
i came here to read  and write as ~Eternal Child~

i did not know that ~DreamChild~ existed

it has been just a coincdence that our Monika's are similar

later i read a few of his works and liked some even.

next thing i know there's a challenge set up for me, then this thread with ~DreamChild~ accusing me of copying his name and his poetry, now THAT is offensive.

now he says he is on to me?

hmmm i'd call that stalking

i've been minding my own business and i cop crap

God forbid another poet joining Piptalk ~DreamChild~ with a similar monika, and having to put up with the likes of you.

i have lived up to my Monika "child" unfortunately and i do apologize to Ron and the Moderators of Piptalk for the inconvenience.

you won't be seeing me again

i'm outta here

e.c:

first:
dont go...
i did not mean to offend you.
i didn't even know that this post would catch your attention, or focus any attention on you. i dont mind sharing a "monika" (which is a very uncommon word, i know few (1) poet(s) with such vocabulary)
with you. its quite appealing when seen in a different light, and i would like to be friends with you, despite your disconcern for my feelings. mine are not the only feelings after all. seems as though yours are expressed quite clearly.

second:
i do sense an old spirit in new form.
only you know for sure.

third:
there is plenty of room for children here....
and i will say no more.

personally I think you have said more than enough towards eternal child...and whether eternal child is a new name or a second handle, I think having posted all this  under such a title online rather than in a personal email was uncalled for. I have been reading and following because

As I explained to her in a private email..I, too, was or once felt "attacked" on here  when I first came on...not fully understanding the workings of the site and even though I had read the guidelines there is something in one that makes them wish to defend themselves even if it makes them look childish.

And I  actually got into more trouble than the person who made me feel the need to defend myself.

Anyway I am hoping eternal child stays with us and can see that she will be a nice addition to "the family".

Just my feelings on this whole matter

i never wanted to be confrontational.
just posting here as usual in the lounge.
i challenged e.c. to a freestyle rap battle,
which i thought would be fun. apparently he was offended, and i'm sorry.

Rap battles, or slam poetry, has never really caught on here for very obvious reasons.  Many of us old timers recall what happened to other poetry sites where such became rampant.  The instigators believed everyone there was a willing participant and the poetry site quickly spiralled downward due to lack of any real authority.  This is not the case here, where Ron owns the space, domain, sites, and foots the bill.  He could yank the cord if he so desired, though I'm really hoping he doesn't.  The mods and admins are simply volunteers.

Such rap battles are best left to instant messaging and emails, where there normally isn't an audience which may feel a bit protective over perceived negative confrontational wording.  And there's never repercussions over not accepting any challenge.  Just ask Nan about Poetry Workshop.

Finally, I decided to let this one stay here in the Lounge, though, in truth, it was more suited for the Alley.  That's the place for rants, raves, arguments, venting, and general spleen cleansing, so long as one is respectful about it.  Not all dirty laundry needs public washing.
