Astral Travel? Or practice it? Or have experienced it?

Why do I ask? Simply because I want to.

Please enlighten me

Maree.

Karen and Duncan, lol me thinks I was there beside ya too.

and when I said "Simply because I want to." I didn't mean for that to come across so abruptly as it sounds sheesh well that's how I just read it. What I meant was, Simply becasue I want to astral travel, not becasue I just felt like asking the Question, sheesh. I think I'll just stop explaining myself lol.

I've read books about Astral travelling, I've done the excercises suggested and well..... nada, in the sense that I could be sure of.

Anyway, thanks guys

alright, I'll be serious.

What I mean by having felt what is described as astral travel was a complete awareness of myself wihtout a body.

Okay.

That's weird enough.

But it was a complete awareness that I was OUT of the body, at a distance of about six feet, hovering.

This actually happened with some regularity too. I could tell when it was about to happen, as my toes would begin a certain tingling first, but it was fluid, like a rod, but with a bend, throughout my body.

The only way and the best description I have come up with is that my body felt like a tablet of alka seltzer, dissovling. amd yet retaining enough boyancy to be puzzled by "there must be physical."

It was true peace I knew, too.

If you find the way back to that? Let me know.

I wish I could achieve that . . . God, Karen you are so full of knowledge.

Almost but I get scared, it feels like I am going to die, kinda like I am going down a dark avenue and I am panicking because it is unfamiliar to me so I jolt myself awake, usually in the bath, super meditated and then I am all disoriented like I don't know where I am right away.

I think that is what is happening anyhow.
Not sure myself, Maree.

For OOBEies, the first step is akin to Serenity's: meditation and self-trancing, clearing the mind and focussing on the rhythmic heartbeat.  If, indeed, you do manage to seperate, be very conscious of a thread which connects you to your body.  It can be any hue or thickness.  This is important, since there are downright malicious souls out there who would love nothing more than causing havoc by severing your cord.  Theories on what happens should that occur differ.  Some say death in sleep, others say vegetative comatose, and still some aver comatose with the chance of waking should the errant soul find its way back.

As far as I can tell, I've only done this twice.  First time, I went to the Lincoln Memorial, since just about everyone knows what it looks like, and is a very recognizable landmark.  The other time, I merely hovered above our house, watching the 'relaxing sleep' bubble I made rise and spread over several blocks.

Essorant, LMBO Me too!

I flatlined once, does that count?

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

An OOBE, before some computer manufacturers got hold of it, meant Out Of Body Experience.  The comp companies merely changed Body to Box...or Out Of Box Experience in reference to plug 'n play, preset factory installed programs: no installs, no hassles, just hit the power button and enjoy.

That is when one makes himself so dizzy he doesn't know he is in body anymore, thus he fancies it "out of body"
But without the dizzyness it all comes to an end.

Been there, once, exactly how Karen described it and tried without success to reach that point again, gave up.  i have achieved fleeting, though artificial, enlightenments but they pale in comparison..also you pass out and break your ribs on a toilet

Raph? this happened to you while on the toilet? ahem, trying not to laugh. Tell me about it?

oh and I kinda woulda had an OOBE   last night if I hadn't of gotten excited er or was that scared? perhaps both. I had those lil tingling sensations in my toes? and i could feel my body er bend? I felt kinda crooked and lil tremors left to right I knew it was going to happen I actually said to myself "here I go" and then Bam, I had lost it. Dammit..it was going to happen and I totally effed up. Sighhh. Then all I could feel was my heart beating like there was no tomorrow. shyster.
That's the furthest I've gone and last night I was more determined. Perseverance pays.
I shall try again soon.

Maree

Thanks everyone for you're input, advice and  experiences

But please?....go on...tell me more.

No no, LMAO

Two seperate statements. I have had an experience as Karen described it and have tried everything(including artificially) to get it back without success. The toilet was a reference to the toilet is tied in with the 'artificial' statements or have you forgotten that story dear Dori?
