Not in order:
My Father
Most of the religious icons (Jesus, Elijah Mohammed, etc)
Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) and Sharon Osbourne (business sense)
Every serviceman who had the guts to stick around when there were rounds downrange

Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again...

My daughter (she makes her mistakes, but dang it, she always takes responsibility for them and she is unfailingly honest)

My sister for never giving up on herself or a bad situation

All active duty and reserve military members, their families and all my fellow veterans.

more than one, Im afraid,,,,
1. My daddy,,miss him so much,,,havent felt truely safe since I lost him.
2. My best friend,Ringo, for all the times hes saved me from myself, and found a shred of hope for me to hold onto.
3. All the people who lay their lives on the line,,,military, police, fire fighters, etc., and dont look for the hero badge

To be held, is all I ask......

Fictional heroes seldom get caught overdosing on drugs, beating their wives or the hundred billion other faults revealed in most 'real' heroes. grins

If you mean simply deeds, then yes firefighters, officers and soldiers are great examples. But a human as perfect model or incredible inspiration? I can't think of any because I overthink and dissect everything(can you tell?).

A hero to me is one who inspires and gives of himself/herself for others.  I have many, but the most would be . . .

My Mother, may she rest in peace, she still inspires me.

My Sister, goodness incarnate.

My M.A. Instructor who is in fact, a hero.

I don't look at my husband as my hero, though in fact he is for he saves me often from myself.  Guess he is just an integral part of me.

I too appreciate all those who put their lives on the line for us.

Raph, maybe you and I should find a back room and analyze each other...(I swear that was meant "G" rated).

*sigh*

I was told last night that I need to stop analyzing everything.

Damn it don't get my hopes up Susan C!! Disclaimers go before the statement..before

But on a serious note, I can't watch tv, read a book or talk to many people without analyzing it all. This is on top of my 'sarcastic bastard' self, all in all I'm a wreck

Ah Raph, we are all flawed.  But it is those who struggle to overcome their flaws while seeking to ease other's burdens that inspire.  I wish you could meet some of the people in my life, then you would understand, heroes are all around us, it is written in the depth of their hearts.

Tom Jefferson
Abraham Lincoln
Teddy Roosevelt
Harry Truman
Johnny Cash
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
W. Edwards Deming
my father
Katherine Hepburn
Cokie Roberts
Diane Rehm

Many more worthy of admiration -- it just depends on if you can segregate what it is they are to be admired for -- for instance -- I can admire Lyndon Baines Johnson for his slow and stealthful career that was dedicated to civil rights while despising some of his other accomplishments.

Highdeedsmith at folklander's call
arises from his gleaming hall
in glory-gown and treading tall,
Hero his name, brightest of all!
See his keen step and mighty frame
moved by bravery's breathing flame
Lord and ladys all know his name
Hero that is, from great hall came!
Knows he all weathers way and dare
Faces fire, water, earth and air,
Knows each man's craft and woman's care
Hero his name, bravery's bear!

He who rows well seldom needs to swim

"There is a hero in us all"
is that from spiderman? I am sure I heard it on a trailer of some movie...

...

having said that is there something wrong in saying

"I am my own hero!"

I am my own zero too

Lo! hero
In glory
Lo! we know
Thy story
Fared in fame
Is thy name
Held in heed
Is thy deed.
In their lays
Poets praise
Shown in glee
Thanks to thee,
Knight and nurse
Brave in deed
Knight and nurse
To our need.

The Chadwick Family.

They taught me what love really is. I had a wonderful opportunity being taught by their daughter/sister, and then onward to learning from Larry.

Emotionally, I think without piptalk, I'd be messed up.

Jesus Christ (Well, anyone who knows anything about me could have guessed that one)

My boyfriend, who has been through so much and has overcome..

And all of my friends who are serving in Iraq, trying to make the world better..

Oh, make me Thine forever
And should I fainting be
Lord, let me never ever
Outlive my love for Thee

Jesus Christ

and resilient people - there's millions of them; they inspire me to no end

and my husband -   he loves me in an incredible way - despite my annoying ways, hero maybe isn't the right word, I think I'm just amazed by the way he loves

I'm just envisioning people wanting to gag after that statement
