I'd seen this on a television show awhile back. As disgusting as it is, I did think it made as much sense as some of the poisonous chemical therapies that are offered. (so sayeth the recently "napalmed")

I just wouldn't want to know about it.

*shudder*

Must be very special maggots then, because the common maggots I know, eat through a healthy sheep and kill it. Every year when it's hot and damp, I'm on the look out for those nasty fellows in my flock. Not a pretty sight if those big green flies they 'catch' one and lay their eggs in the fleece.

Oh well, maybe we're going back to 'bleedings' too???

I learned quite a bit about this type of therapy while in school--not sure if they are special maggots, but I have seen the results of maggot therapy, and you'd be surprised.  People are less likely to have amputations due to a wound that wouldn't heal, with this therapy, and the cost for management of the wound is less too.  The therapy does seem gross--I personally wouldn't want to handle the maggots or the dressing!
