Saluting with misty eyes

Hey All....
I have a challenge I hope you can help me with.
I have a romantic evening planned for the 14th of this month. After taking her to a formal dinner, where we are both dressed in our best (well, me in my Marine Corps League Uniform)... well, I have the scented candles, the massage oil, the rose petals for the bed, etc.
I am making a CD for this occasion, and I have run out of artists to put on it. So far, I have the following artists included:
Marvin Gaye
Enrique Iglesias
Arron Neville
Brian McKnight
Luther Vandross
Barry White
Teddy Pendergrass
Al B. Sure

If I were making this CD for your use, which artists/songs would I have to search for to put on it for you?

We are all equal but we’re individually different
and able to reach the impossible if we try.

Kellie- Is that the same song that Linda Ronstadt and Arron Neville did?? If so, I have it already.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Jenn-I had forgotten all about larry Graham... and I have the nerve to call myself obsessed with music...

PrarieChild- Great selections. Thanks.

Susan- I'll have to check it out. Thanks.

MidniteSun&Marite- it is painfully obvious that you have never heard me sing. lol. Although, I did happen to write a couple of scribbles that might be worth reciting into a tape, or some such...
Thanks for the ideas.

Suthern- My apologies for completely missing your reply. I had the name of the artists on the tip of my tongue, and couldn't come up with them. Thanks.

I completely agree with Kacy . . . there is nothing more special than something that comes from the heart . . .
Once I dated a kid who played guitar horribly, but he wrote a song for me and played it to me over the phone . . .
I thought that was one of the best things anyone has done for me and something I will never forget.

Get playing already and not on tape
LIVE .  . you can do wonderful tonight
or tears in heaven . . . Oh that one will make her like jello . . . acoustic would be beautiful Brad . . . you dont have to sing  if you dont want to . . .
xxoo
Good Luck

Going by the setting you describe and the mood you seem to want to set; the music should be barely noticeable. In fact playing songs with lyrics tend to lend their feelings to the evening rather than letting you each express your own. If you just have to have something like that however-- consider the old standards-- nat king cole-- johnny mathis--the rat pack--or on the female side-- Striesand-- Karen Carpenter--

but... for the best settting ( in my most humble opinion ) consider..

Ernest Chausson's 'Poeme' for violin and piano

Chopin's nocturnes and 'etudes

Beethovens's sonatas for piano--esp Moonlight Sonata, Pathetique, and his 6th symphony (the pastoral )

and of course Pachabel's Canon

You will find this music enhances the mood without distracting you from it or artificially adding to it.

once again--merely my opinion of course
