Hello

Has anyone here had Laser Eye Surgery? I'm planning on having it done before I ship off to bootcamp in December, and I was looking for advice, best prices, if you were satisfied, etc. My vision is terrible, and has always been a hinderance, but the main reason is so that it is not a problem in BASIC Training. That, and I desire to be able to protect my family during the night with or without glasses.

Any thoughts you might have would be appreciated.

I've heard a lot of great thing about it as of late.  It has been around long enough now that it is less harmful and usually a great success.  Best of luck and let me know how it goes!

Four of my teachers have had successful surgeries, and one of those was just a few months ago. The only negative response to the surgery I've heard about is a friend of my father's, and that was done about 3 years ago, but I'm sure everything's improved a bit since then eh? I'm planning on getting it as soon as possible after I turn 18...but right now I don't have any of the specific information. If I find some, though, I'll let you know. Just make sure you've shopped around.

Brother,
My biggest advice to you is the one thing you should ALWAYS do before making a decision at this point in your life... Check with your recruiter...He, or she, knows the ins and outs of joining, and if there is something that might hinder your enlistment, he or she will let you know.
Good Luck to you

Titus...My son had it done about 5 years ago and swears by it. Before the operation he had terrible eyesight and like 5 minutes after the operation he was reading things that he couldn't even see before.
Just make sure you get a doctor that has alot of experience and has had great success in the past. Check out some of his other patients and don't go on price alone, because they have some really cheap prices out there but this is your eyes, so give them the best.
