Being one of the "relative newcomers," I'd like to say I've been enjoying my time here so far. But, for me, there are just too many daily posts to keep up with each and every one. I'd like to respond to every poem that everyone writes but must face the fact that time just doesn't allow commenting on--much less reading them all. Hence, I feel the need to be selective. Besides, I've never considered myself to be much of a critic anyway--in fact, this is the first forum on which I've ever critiqued at all. At the same time, being the sort who prefers the "Constructively-honest-no matter-how-brutal-critiques", I'm in turn reluctant to post suger-coated comments on a thread that has a dozen "Attaboy/girls" underneath. It's difficult for me to then come in and begin criticizing forced rhyme, lack of meter, etc. I just don't feel like being the thread spoiler.
Sure, I'd like everyone to respond to my poem, but it won't disturb my sleep if only a few do. And, although it's nice to see someone respond with positive comments, I consider myself a long ways off from having learned it all. So, personally, I prefer remarks that explain why something does or doesn't work.
Thanks for listening,

Sid

I must say, this is the first reply that I agree with...well not all the way...But I see where your coming from. You'd rather have people reply with things that will help you LEARN? I like you, you know what you're talking about. Peace.

When I go into open I have to confess that I tend to read my freinds first -- but I do read -- there just isn't time to reply.

I also use the today's topics list -- but I go to the bottom and read up -- that way there's a better chance I can help somebody get read that might have fallen off the scope in all the traffic.

quote:
Hi. I'm speaking truth. I mean no harm. There have a been a lot of new comers come to PIP and it's slim to none that any of them reply to the older members writes. I feel that we are loosing people because of this. The new members post but never reply to anyone else. It's becoming bothersome. Someone has to speak out about this because I don't find it fair and I know, a couple of people feel the same way. I hope everyone doesn't get mad or anything. But,Yeah. Thanks. Pe@ce ~*Kirah*~

To be honest you look as though you are a bit of a new member yourself and to be honest it looks as though you have only just posted more responces to people's poems than you have posted of your own poems. I remember a discussion quiet a while back now where we came to a concensus that a ratio of 10 replies to every 1 of your own poems posted was a fairly reasonable target to aim for, if you achieve that then those "newbie" members will soon follow suit and will soon start replying to your work.

Or in other words "You only get what you give"
