So Cal So Cool!
Being one of the "relative newcomers," I'd like to say I've been enjoying my time here so far. But, for me, there are just too many daily posts to keep up with each and every one. I'd like to respond to every poem that everyone writes but must face the fact that time just doesn't allow commenting on--much less reading them all. Hence, I feel the need to be selective. Besides, I've never considered myself to be much of a critic anyway--in fact, this is the first forum on which I've ever critiqued at all. At the same time, being the sort who prefers the "Constructively-honest-no matter-how-brutal-critiques", I'm in turn reluctant to post suger-coated comments on a thread that has a dozen "Attaboy/girls" underneath. It's difficult for me to then come in and begin criticizing forced rhyme, lack of meter, etc. I just don't feel like being the thread spoiler.
Sure, I'd like everyone to respond to my poem, but it won't disturb my sleep if only a few do. And, although it's nice to see someone respond with positive comments, I consider myself a long ways off from having learned it all. So, personally, I prefer remarks that explain why something does or doesn't work.
Thanks for listening,
