I have no clue.

I am sure however that the state bird for California is best demonstrated by the middle finger, usually from behind the steering wheel...

Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn.

Cardinal is one that applies to many states, I believe, West Virginia being one of them

Oh, make me Thine forever
And should I fainting be
Lord, let me never ever
Outlive my love for Thee

Not sure what state they are each from, but I would look in the following trees,
sugar maple,
white spruce,
western white pine,
paper birch,
sweet pecan,
buckeye.
