I've received several complaints from people who are being spammed by a couple of former Members. Usolicited Bulk Email (UBE) is against the Terms of Service of just about every reputable outfit on the Internet, including (of course) pipTalk. The people sending these bulk invitations are certainly not supported by these forums, and are no longer welcome in these forums. Beyond that, however, there's not a lot I can do.

YOU, however, can do more. If you would like the spam to stop, you should start forwarding copies of anything sent diretcly to the people who are unknowingly enabling the UBE. Below, you'll find links which will provide more information for those who would like to know the details. I urge you to educate yourself, but I also know most of us are busy people who just want results.

That's easy, too. When your receive a spam from any AOL address, you should click on the "Forward" button and send it directly to TOSEmail1@aol.com with a short note that it is spam you would like stopped.

If you receive spam that is promoting a web site at everyone.net, you should again Forward it to abuse@everyone.net with a quick "stop sending spam" message.

I can't stop this spam from hitting your email box, but aol.com and everyone.net can.

Im one of those people bombarded with spam. As a teen i will go through countless of websites in one day (internet junkie). Once I forgot to check my e-mail for a week and I got 312 email sent to me, and only 8 of dem were from people who sent me a frendship poem of touching leters. The rest were junk, complely annoying, wasteful junk. I got so angry at it that i clicked the delete buton too hard with and my mouse broke, and like right on cue i get a new spam askin if i want a new computer with printer and mouse. That's why I made a new e-mail acount so that my friends' messages dunt get mixed up with all the %@&9 I get. (sorry for the sudden burst of rage)

I emailed one of the parties to request removal from future mailings, and that person complied with my wishes.  I did, however, continue to recieve emails from the other who neglected to omit me from future mailings on request, so I just used my outlook express "block" function.

Spam certainly does annoy me.  Thanks for addressing this issue, Ron.  I'd have to say that maybe one solution to this would be to simply convince these people that their mass mailings are not welcome.

Spam?  I don't even get mail from people I know!

Ron,

I’ve been getting invitations from Doreen and Rod to visit their site, is that what you’re talking about?

I'm getting around 15 a day that end up in my junk mail filter with another 10 that seem to be able to get past this. It's kind of rediculous as I onlye get 1 e-mail a day that I actually read.

I have gotten SPAM, but nothing I call SPAM from any former Pips members. The stuff I resent is unsolicited PORN.
Political links don't often offend me, even when it's POV isn't my own, as I believe in free speech 100% and welcome all relevant information.
Thanks for this info though, as I do want to know how to effectively delete offensive emailers.

Exactly the same as Crazy Eddie.

Four times I have requested they remove me from their mailing list because, mainly they had sent a humorless, graphic picture of a woman's  naked bent over rear end, which included  a so-called verbal joke, both of which I found offensive, and concerned since my grandsons use my computer. Though they've probably seen worse, NOT on Nanny's computer.

I've repeatedly asked them to remove me from their list to no avail. So I receive all their who knows what because I have no interest in them and I do not bother to read their stuff.

Ron,

Another comment here, because I cannot get my last reply to come up in order to edit and add a note.

Doreen has always been one of my favorite poetesses and will remain so. Though I have no personal contact with her.

I resented the graphic sent to me and it was sent, because I had been included in a mass mailing of a previous, not so gross, visual and verbal joke by someone else.

To each his own and perhaps some found it funny; but if you're going send out such, I think it important to know the people you are sending it to.

I hope they see this and remove me. I am not interested in anything they have to offer.

Sincerely, Pat
