It's a quiz. I never knew there were so many types. I hope you guys enjoy it.
http://quiz.ravenblack.net/poeticform.pl

Here's my result:

I am free verse,
and know the rules,
and use them -
when they suit me,
which admittedly
tends not to be the case.
Authority,
tradition, laws;
very much not
my sort
of thing,
I fear.
Perhaps, on occasion,
I go too far in the opposite direction,
and shun the accepted merely because it's accepted,
accepting its opposite merely because it isn't;
but since it's clearly
better that than
being normal;
well,
why
not?

I'm terza rima, and I talk and smile.
Where others lock their rhymes and thoughts away
I let mine out, and chatter all the while.

I'm rarely on my own - a wasted day
Is any day that's spent without a friend,
With nothing much to do or hear or say.

I like to be with people, and depend
On company for being entertained;
Which seems a good solution, in the end.

I am heroic couplets; most precise
And fond of order. Planned and structured. Nice.
I know, of course, just what I want; I know,
As well, what I will do to make it so.
This doesn't mean that I attempt to shun
Excitement, entertainment, pleasure, fun;
But they must keep their place, like all the rest;
They might be good, but ordered life is best.

terza rima...

guess I should learn how to write one, but I'd probably rumple up the paper and throw it AT the garbage can...

Okay, it said I was a 'heroic couplet', or a triolet (I hope it didn't say toilet).  However, I think it is wrong.  I think I'm a free verse....  What do y'all think I am?

Well if I'm going to be a terza rima, at least the company is good...never figgered me for that...it did give me an option to be a sonnet, but if I came in saying that, Nan would get out her eraser....

Well, in terza rima, it's obvious that the stanzas are always in the tercet (3-line grouping). The rhyming pattern is kinda weird. it is AbA BcB CdC DeD EfE etc. depending on howlong it is. The three line of the stanzas and the rhyme pattern linking the tsanzas together are said to have an indirect reference to the Trinity. A good example is Dante's Divine Comedy. Hmmm, der are a lot of terza rima people here. maybe we'll get more diversity lata on. Anyway, i retook the quiz. I got free verse like 8 out of 10 times. The other 2 said I'm a haiku. Both suit me quite well

Well given that the poem that suits freeverse is whacked anyway - all this mumbo-jumbo about breaking rules like it's a form of poetry for delinquints I'm not surprised that freeverse poets aren't emerging with freeverse personalities..

the point of freeverse is that there ARE no rules...sheesh - there's a difference..

At any rate I'm a descort...nice word...

Okay, did it again and now I'm really confused:

Ottava rima? Me? That can't be right!
   Too frivolous? But tut, there's no such thing!
Let others ponder thoughts of wrong and right,
   Or sit and think how much they love the spring;
I'd rather spend my time in gleeful spite,
   Or maybe laugh, or maybe sit and sing.
Besides, it might be fun to be inspiring -
But surely it would get so very tiring.</td></tr></table>

Nightshade, you have to TAKE THE QUIZ!!!! Hugging you....

take it, so we know for sure you're not what you think you are!  LOL...I'm going to take it again simply because heck...some of the remodeling pressure is off [yes, folks, for those who don't know...two months of pure dust has finally paid off....] and I am thinking that now that I don't have to see through a smoke screen, I may see, uh, more clearly?  Or is that clear, morely?  LOL...I'll let you know if my response changes....

I'll hit free verse one of these days....

It's kind of like that colorgenics quiz that we all played with a few months ago...depending on your mood, the time of day [the time of month for some of us] etc., it's all subjective....

and right now?  I'm playing in the fact that it's the day that the REMODELING WAS FINISHED!!!!!!

If I find anything about the I am a Terza Rima I will let you all know, since there seems to be many of us

Ok.. It didn't take long..lol.. but here is what I found on this website..
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Labyrinth/7091/plessons/fmisc.html

A TERZA RIMA takes the tercet rhyming scheme a step further. The `blank' sound ending the second line in the first stanza, becomes the rhyming sound for the second stanza:

The day is done
The night comes in (A-B-A)
Down goes the sun

Wind chimes of tin
Ring soft and clear (B-C-B)
Gently in the wind

Think of me, dear
Looking at stars (C-D-C...etc.)
Wanting you here

..... as I said.. I think I'm more the Haiku type LOL.. but I might give this a try.. I'm looking for some inspiration

I think Sunshine is rite. My result changes depending on my mood. I was feeling a bit drowsy since we had a double of science to day and 4 fun i retook the quiz:

I know I should be telling you that I'm
A rubai - but perhaps some other time.
It sounds like work, and anyway, it's late -
Unless I sleep, I'll be too tired to rhyme.

Besides, there's plates to clear and cups to clink,
And when that's done I have to sit and think,
Since then it won't be long before I need
To sleep again and eat again and drink.

    I dunt think I've ever gotten this, or even heard of it 4 that matter. But it's nice to see change once in a while eh?
