I just got an adorable 8 week old kitten, but I can't decide what to name her! She's gray, with a little orange smudge on her forehead, and tiny bits of orange blended in with her gray fur. Ideas, anyone?? Thanks in advance!

I had a cat,   my best friend's (at the time) mom and her sister were walking in the vineyard behind their house, and found kittens her neighbor had thrown over the fence. My cat was the only one left alive. My friend already had too many animals and couldn't keep her. My parents let me keep her. I was 13 or 14. We had her until I was about 25. She would know when we drove up, and would come out and greet us. (needless to say I loved that cat) Her name, was Gussy. We called her Gussy girl.. I think that's a good name
I'm sure whatever name you choose will be perfect for her.

Name her something unusual, 'cause eventually you'll find some neat abbreviated version to call her casually, and when people ask about the strange name, you can say "it's short for (insert cool name)."

Oh and be sure to give her a fancy title.  Cats love that.  Like, "Miss Coconut Valley," or something.

Sunkissed? Sunkist?

My friend had 2 cats that color..she named hers Butterscotch and Marmalade...
she also has cats named Smokey and Shasta.

Another friend has a all black female that is fast as lightening and climbs the walls and curtains...they named her Trinity.

My cats are named DeVante and Tabitha.

My gal and I are getting a kitty when we move out.  She wants to name it "three in the afternoon" because she always wanted a cat named that.  But she says she'll wait until we have the cat just in case the name isn't appropriate.

Which means, I guess, she might name it after another time in the afternoon?

Just once I'd like creative control in this relationship...

Sunkist sounds like a cool name... but eventually you will make it into a one-syllable, shortened version of the name (inevitable with pets)... and your options here are "sun" which sounds like a condescending old man, or "sunk" which sounds pessimistic and weird.

Still, you could go with "kiss" or something like that, I suppose.

I have to admit that I do like Sunkissed,
however I was thinking, why not 'Smudge'?

Says who? My kids grew up with two Siamese, named Patrick Henry and Mother Nature (as in "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature!"). They were never called anything except their proper and complete names. Couldn't. They wouldn't answer.

I love kittens, i have a lot and cats. What I like to do is wait a couple days or whatever to name them so i can see how they act and so I can get to know them and that way I can give them a name that fits their personality. Here are some possible names:
cupcake, Minnie, tiny, Zoey.....I don't know anymore right now, I will keep thinking.

I named one of my kittens (it is a girl) Kitty.

Well good luck on choosing a name.

LOL.. thanks for all your replies everyone! I thought of sunkist last night too, or cointreau or fanta or orange mineral water/minnie for short hehe (see how desperate I am?!)... I wish she came with a name!

I think sunkist is the front runner for now though, I'll start calling her that and see how she reacts; she's already started answering to "kitty" and "puss".. maybe I should just call her no name cat.

I love cats and dogs, so I looked at this thread. I love these names...lol
("three in the morning" haha!!)that's cute.
My favorite of all these was "Sunkissed", too. Did you name it that?

I have a new little kitty....got her about a week ago. She is solid black. My little dog Scooter thinks she's his new toy. They already lay in the chair together, or on the couch. He's used to being my "baby", so I thought he might be jealous. He is, but I'm trying to pay him extra attention

My friend let me name her cat.... It was all black with a white smudge on its forhead. I named "it" Luna. Which would have been great if it hadn't turned out to be a boy.

My friends used to have the coolest cat ever his name was Buddles. I think it was the funniest thing because they got the name from a drug lord on a video game, funniest part is that the cat responded to it. Should name its something funny that cat responds to. Cats should have cool names there awsome don't settle for anything less than the best. Good luck with the name.

It's hard for me to give you any ideas... I always name my friends based on their behaviour as well as how they look. I generally pick names that I like, but would not name my children. (Gus Gus, Lola)

Someone mentioned Napolean, which I like a lot too. I had a friend once who named her cats after Egyptian gods and goddesses (which is rather appropriate if you think about it).

When I get another sugar glider my boyfriend gets to name her because it's our baby and I got to name the one we have now. He picked Boo. I know I'll end up calling her Boo Boo because that's a nickname I have for one of my cats.

Good luck with your naming!

Moira!!! *shudders* That's that awful womans name on Good Morning Australia.... oooh for the love of Jim...

Three in the Afternoon is cool.
My kittys name was Tiger (very unimaginative) or just simply, Cat.  Which makes me feel as though I'd end up naming any offspring of mine Boy, Girl, Other Child.

Congratulations! It's a bisexual!

I love cats....

Ours is named Taffy; we got her around the time we owned a cat named Licorice. She didn't last, but Taffy, the runt of her litter, sure has. Still, after all tehse years, only 5-6 pounds. She's my baby.

I have a cat and you know what we named him? Yep we named him BoB because my sister goes around sayin hey it's bob on the phone or hey george is on the phone so now she has a boyfriend named George so she can't say that and we found this cat living in our barn and it happened to be a boy so she started calling him Bob and he responded to it. And It stuck with him. lol End of story!
I like dogs better, i'm so not a cat person.

My cat is very small, though two years old.  She's always been clumsy, so when she was a kitten we named her Slippie.

my daughter is allergic to cats - so no more for us... but before i had a cat "kitty gato" (gato is spanish for cat - so, litterally, he was kitty cat).  he was quite the cat... still remember him fondly, black and sleek, a miniature panther.
