Ok. I'm hearing stories that it's REALLY cold in some parts of the country (excuse me while I open my patio door and refresh the ice in my lemonade).

A friend in Nova Scotia says he leaves his diesel powered truck running all night so he won't have to worry about starting it in the morning. Others have heated garages....

So tell me...how cold is it where you are and do you have any interesting stories? Are you having snow days at school/work?

14F degrees here in Jacksonville Florida this morning, which is a record low and is to continue until at least through the weekend....burrr.

Get ready for an increase in prices for Florida agricultural products.

It's 7 degrees fahrenheit...  It froze somewhere along about 32 - a week ago...

My bathroom pips have frozen - My shower, toilet, and sink were incapacitated... I turned the lightbulbs on in the lower hallway to thaw them.. That only worked temporarily... I then had to heat the entire basement (which includes the non-insulated part where the pipes are) to get them thawed again...

Now the shower works - That's surely helpful.. The sink works - A good thing... The toilet - NADA...

I'm buying a space heater today - I figure that'll be cheaper than heating the great outdoors with natural gas...

BUT - Cape Cod gets VERY little snow - We still haven't had a no-school day called for snow in at least 4 years...

And get this - Yesterday I saw some silly birds that looked like giant robins flying around.  What sort of dumb birds were THEY?

Nan, I heard some of the ferrys weren't running due to icy conditions.

My daughter lives in Florida and they are freezing! It's bad for tourism as well as fruit production.

With windchill factored in...it is -2 here in Etowah County, Alabama....

Our pipes have burst, the washer refuses to fill, the shower refuses to turn on and wash me, the sink refuses to fill up my glass....It's horrible.

And whats worse?
To save energy costs...the wonderful staff at my highschool have decided to cut off the electricity to the school via the breakers everynight....Which means what? NO HEAT! (Well, in the main building that is....The one building that has 3 classrooms and the OFFICE staff stays nice and toasty all night long so THEY are nice and toasty when the arrive to school...We on the other hand shiver until about noon when the heat has finally warmed up enough to atleast knock off the chill....)

Wow!!! Oh my gosh, I heard about this on the news and I am shocked how cold the warmer regions are!

Here in Colorado, however, it has been a completely different story. Wednesday was an exception (we had a cold day that day around 35 degrees) but other than that we have been having a hugely unseasonably warm winter! For most of January so far, we've been having days of temperatures between 60 and 70 degrees, 20 degrees warmer than on average here for this time of the year. Yesterday after the 35 degree day, we got all the way above 55 degrees and are expected to get in the high 50's to middle 60's all within the next week again!

We are also in a terrible drought situation, the worst in Colorado history. Colorado is basically a desert wherever the mountains aren't touching and it reminds me of the Sahara desert.

Here in Colorado, muy caliente for January, hace frio in areas that are usually muy caliente. As much as I'm enjoying the warm weather here, can you share some of the rain with us, we can really use it!

Love,

My dad came and visited me while I was living in Sandwich and took a trip to Provincetown...now that was different! We went as far as we could towards the "end of the tip."

I could of bought a house there, but at the last minute, got cold feet and decided to rent instead. Looking back, it most likely would have been a wise investment...owning property on the Cape, is valuable commoditity, indeed.

How cold is it?

It's so cold, your momma was rented out as a space heater

It's so cold, yesterday I saw two birds wearing ear muffs

It's so cold, I let the dog out last night and had she looked at me and shut the door.

It's so cold, the when you talk the words freeze and fall to the ground, you have to take them inside and thaw them out to hear what was said.

It's so cold, that it tried to snow and the flakes had sweaters

It's so cold, even the ice complained and wanted the Government here to hand out blankets

It's so cold, cars refuse to leave the garages.

It's so cold, even the fireplaces are huddling up against each other trying to keep warm.

It's so cold.... it takes an hour after you have been out to be able to move your eyes...they are freezing in place

yeah yeah yeah..I know these are stupid...

How cold is it?  Very.

In this part of the world, right now it is a heat wave at 19F.  But, this past week, we had air temps of -6F with a -50F wind chill.  That is enough to cause frostbite in 30 minutes.  I do not believe that it has been that cold here in a long while.

So, put another log on the barbie, and give me another hot chocolate!

Thank you.

How cold is it? Thermostat is set at about 68F during the day. That's a bit too warm for good sleeping, so I drop it another ten or fifteen degrees at night. Seems to be just about right.

Wait … you meant outdoors? Beats me. I'm hunkered down 'til I see a month without an "r" in it on my calendar.

Just going shopping in shorts, sandels and a tshirt reminds me of the Spanish bull runs, or a Kansas City stockyard. It's the attack of the Blue Haired Biddies, who drive down in brand spankin new $60k RV's, then holler if they can't get $0.05 off a bottle of aspirin.

I really wish it'd warm up a bit, so they would go home.

I live in Florida, so most of the year it is sweltering...especially with the recent years of drought conditions. But with the drought come long cold spells, and here where I am in the state it has gone down to 15 F. I don't think that really compares to most of the other posts here, but in my area, with my thin-blooded veins, that's pretty darn cold!

Oh my gosh, I can't believe it, usually it's supposed to be cool in Colorado but this year I can't seem to sympathize with the Florida and Georgia people or everyone else hit by this cold front as we are having near-record warmth here! Yesterday, we had a high of 72 degrees, 25 degrees above normal for this time of year in Denver. I think the purple mountain majesties must have stolen the monsoon winds! Muy caliente!

We've been out of school so much for snow, ugh i'm sick of it and it's to freakin cold! Burrrr Im so ready for summer/spring whatever .. I want it to be warm again!
I hate no being able to get up my drive way because no matter how big of a run I get I still get to my barn and slide into it almost! Eww ticks me off so I end up walking up the hill. ALL THE TIME! EW!

And its taking some of our spring break off we only get 10 days .. now we have 9 days .. maybe even less. Ugh! I HATE WINTER! There isn't anything you can do besides sit home because it's to darn cold to be outside. I hate it!
