I didn't know about this place, Salty, who happens to be my sister told me about it, so I thought I'd ck it out and say hello everyone. Here's a question if you care to reply, why do you write? I'm sure you've been asked this before but, still I like to read each person's reason......

Hello.

I guess I don't know.... fulfilling that creative drive, and I have a bit of a linguistic knack.

Hi there Cpat Hair and hush....

Why do I write, good question....smiling. Well first I'm creative and all that creative energy has to go somewhere. if I'm not writing, I'm drawing or decorating, I'm doing something. I've always wanted to write and really didn't feel I had the talent, but I have the desire, soooooo, here I am~!

Where are ya'll from if you don't mind saying.

I live in Ohio.

There's an option in your member profile where you can enter that information (if you want) to tell people where you'refrom- look under my name, it displays there. Kinda neat, huh?

AToV,
I'm replying to this, mostly because I have no answer. (that makes sense, doesn't it?)

I like to think that I'm trying to say something.

Hello, Salty's sister.....
I'm Ethel... AKA  garysgirl
Salty may have told you about the crazy nuts here at PIP. Well, I'm one of them (sometimes, anyway)

It is all just innocent fun, though, so don't ever think any different, okay? We're all just a great big "Family of Friends" here at Passions.

BTW, I love this lounge thingy back here. I think Ron is SOOOOOOOO  nice for making us a place back here to just talk and have fun.

Well, lady, I'll see you later. Bye for now!!

hi back at ya gary's girl, Ethel is it? I'll have to check out the profiles and learn more about the people....yes salty's been telling me to come here and get to know everyone, I didn't know the "lounge" existed. I'm so busy I don't get to write as often as I'd like these days, but yes, yes, It's great therapy. Sometimes words and ideas come out of my pen and I'll think where in the world did that come from.......yet it'll put things into perspective, ya know what I mean?

wranx, now your life sounds ultra interesting, how did this living in the wilderness happen? I wish I had the guts to try, at least for a little while. But what would I do about the malls and my shopping fix? *grin*

Aenimal, oh I hear ya, it is better to write than dwell, but it seems even when I write I still manage to dwell....*grin*

Do any of you write prose or short stories?

I just write for myself.
When I start to write
I can look back at the page
and udnerstand what I'm feeling more clearly.
It helps make me more able to cope.

And then sometimes I just write
to convey the things I would never actually
say out loud.
I keep a smile on to the world
So my poetry is usually a bit more sad..
because thats what is more hidden.
Even though I really am happy.

So thats why I write!
Welcome to Pip!
Always, GG

Hello!  Well, I don't know if you call what I do poetry, but sometimes I am filled with emotion, and just want to put in down on paper.

It seems we share similar reasons for writing. It is a way to express ourselves and gain insight by putting our thoughts and emotions into words.

I dabbled a little before I joined the cyber world, but not consistenly until then. Being able to share my thoughts and ideas and read those of others has made the experience a very positive one.

This is great, I'm so glad Salty told me about The Lounge~!

Hello in There......I have not been on the computer since Friday.  I was beginning to start shaking

Glad you made back to the lounge sister.
There's alot of cool people in here. Beware of Cpat cuz he picks on people from Texas, but then he spends alot of time with the flyng monkeys. Brought them back from Oz.
Ethel is as crazy as we are....and serenty is not a boy.  Do not call her that!!!

About the writing thing.  I can really do a lot of writing when there are big issues in my life. It does help a lot to write about them, but also simple little things are fun also. Once you start writing you think of things in a poety like manner I think. I have noticed that I pay more attention to the words in songs and when reading. It really is good therapy.

He has plenty of mental notes to be keeping up with also.  I laugh every time I read them...I bet he gets really confused with all those notes running around in his head.

Hey now... I keep my mental notes quite straight thank you! Rarely forget them because I write them on sticky notes then eat them... that way I can say all thoughts eventually pass...

I write for the sake of my sanity. It is my only true release, I can release more emotion in one poem than I could in hours of therapy. I also write for others. I know what it is like to need nothing more than someone who understands. It's like when you're listening to the radio and they play a song that pinpoints everything you are feeling. It's great to know that someone else knows how you feel. That is why, sometimes when I write, I do it so that just maybe someone could feel a little less alone. I also write because I love words. They are beautiful and so much more powerful than any means of destruction or creation. Why do I write? Because of the words that flow through my veins.

I have written a short story or two in my time. I love doing it, but I usually don't have the attention span or patience that are required to actually complete a story. I do have an idea in my head right now that I think I will commit to when the timing allows.

Anyway, I can't stay on here very long because it's about time for my "Honey"       to call..
Now, Salty's Sister, do I sound like I'm crazy too???? HeeHee!!!
Well, A Tone Of Voice, Salty, Capt. Ron and everybody else, too, I'll see ya'll later.....

Savage Quiescence, hmmmmm, now that is name, oooooh I like it~! And I also like the way you expressed your reasons for writing. How true, it does help to know we aren't alone with our feelings, and yes I agree words are beautiful. Frankly I love to create, and it's mandatory in some form or fashion, or I'd be nuttier than I am~!  I hope you do that short story......

speaking of ~nuts~! Ethel it sounds like you'd fit right in with our family. I call us the "Clan of mixed Nuts". Ok, that's rather lame, but hey I'm from Texas what can you expect.....hehe~!

Cpat has notes running around in his head.....he's not a looney tune is he? *grin*~!

I call him Capt. Ron (since Ron is his name and he was called Captain at another sight). Now is he a "looney toon".....  well, probably about like your clan and my clan. Kinda "nuts", ya know   (He sure can write intelligent poetry, though)

You know what I just thought of? I didn't say why I write poetry. Well....
there are a lot of reasons, but the main one is that it's a lot easier for me to say what's inside of me when I'm writing poetry, or stories, or something. Sometimes I do let my imagination get away with me, though. But, most of what I write is about feelings I have in my heart.

Speaking of which, I need to go to Open Forum now to read some poems and respond to any replies I may have gotten today while I was off the computer.

I'll see ya'll back here soon.
Bye.........

Hi Liz, thanks for the welcome! This seems like a fun place to be.

I think Salty is pretty cool, also, she's not only my sister she's my friend and that's great when you can mix the two, *S*~! I think most of us who enjoy writing and creating are not exactly normal? Eh? But then what is that and who wants to be ~normal~ anyway....? *grin*~!
