Both of my kids wrote stories that were chosen to be among their school's entries for The Young Author's Competition!

(Oh...and I'd ask them to join Pip, and post their offerings in Prose--but I'm not sure if they will pass guidelines... -- )

Now, *ahem* permit me just a small rooster strut around the forum?

No? WATCH ME ANYWAY!

so it's genetic after all...

Have some more kids, Serenity... our world needs more talented writers!

That's the funniest looking rooster I have seen in quite a while....

but on the flip side, Congrats to the kids, Serenity...what you really meant to say is, you don't want them stealing YOUR computer time!

LOL...you don't want them networking too soon, Karen...it's nice to have them at home!  I know how hard it is to share a computer...[that's why we have two!]

You've got a lot to be proud of, so dance any way you see fit!

Thanks...and Kari? blushing here, we are a four member family that boast SIX computers!!! (if you count the notebook)

lessee...my son has my old Dell, my daughter just recently got an HP S70 (I think, too lazy to check) I'm riding here on a Gateway) the hubby as THE THING A FRIEND BUILT--the Compaq? smiling, was sent to the hands of my son so he could perform an autopsy. Oh...the notebook is IBM...

and? I am scratching my head here, because they seem to be more creative working OFFLINE. HMMMM.

oh...AND? I was just informed by my son that his is not necessarily accepted yet--sigh--his work is being looked at for possible plagiarism--they think it's rather TOO GOOD.

(and yes, I have been talking to them about that--so...we shall see...I have read it and don't recognize it--ran the sub-species of humans and character names, etc. through google...nada thing that ain't common knowledge... It IS good.)

I told him it's possible to do that accidently, but I also told him that I was accused of plagiarism with my very first submission of a poem too--and all ended well--I've still got the blue ribbon! *smirk* and *wink*.

Now that you are properly nauseated...smiling, I'll go away and SHADDUP--but yes yes yes--they are my pride and joy.

Karen, I see this is an old post, but I think congratulations are still in order.
And, of course it's acceptable for parents to brag on their kids. My parents still brag on me and I still brag on my daughter, too...even though she's grown. I used to embarrass her so bad when she was in school. She won most popular in her class and I really bragged on that. (But, I'm not  STILL bragging about it, or am I?)
Anyway, it's just natural to brag on those you love. I brag on Gary a lot, too. (I had to throw him in there).
