Buenos Noches.

It's official, I believe I'm addicted. In the last say, month and a half to maybe two months, I've bought (okay, three were given to me) 49 cd's, adding them to my collection. Is this a bad thing? I don't think so. I'm not sure when I'll have the money again, and, really, it's the only thing I spend my money on, for the most part. Music, after my faith, is my driving passion in life, and I must feed it.

So, I'm curious, how many have you bought in the last few months?

Sincerely,
Titus

Find a mood, find some time, and there you go, Andrew.

Having much doesn't neccessarily mean listening to much - it's having the option there.

They must have had some sale for you to be able buy all those cds. Cds here are expensive, along with everything else.
I got 3 Tom Waits cds on sale. I tend to get alot off songs the net, though I still buy the cds of my favourite bands.

I will say out of the last 150 CD's I've acquired, I've bought 12 of them!
BMG Music! It's a pain, but I get lots of free and discounted CD's!
Then, When I hold up my end of the deal, I cancel. And for holding my end of the deal, they send me certificates
for 5 free CD's. Then a month later, I have another deal in the mail, asking me to join and get 12 CD's for a penny.
And I start all over again!

For every CD I make, I buy at least 10 more. I made Placebos album and promptly went and bought a box of 10 CDs to record some more. I've done my bit for the record industry.

Ok, now seriously. I've probably bought at least 5 CDs in the past month.

Brian, actually it's run me, probably close to say three or four hundred. I've saved a great deal, however, because I buy a large many of them from BMG, where you get great deals, especially the more you buy. For isntance, I just ordered 12 more, and it ended up averaging out to around $5.71 a CD, S/H included. When I'm looking to get a CD edited, or get one recently released (such as Blindeside's major label debut, bought that one it's first day out), I then buy them from Sam Goody or CDNOW, online or instore. Depending on my mood.

I bought two 80 case racks today. Working well so far.

Sincerely,
Titus

oh...i WON'T mention how much money is in the budget for music alone.

I just went to see Paul McCartney.
I will not tell you how much that cost.
sigh
Do the research? Do the math...

Tell y'what...I'll tell you where we sat.
6th row, CENTER.

and that was just to get in the place...

smile, I have no guilt.

and until you have gone to concerts for almost 30 years? don't even talk to me about "necessity"--of inflation of live show prices, that is--

take a good look--RIGHT NOW--and just what you receive with a current CD--until recently? lucky to get lyrics, liner notes, etc. Now consider what you got with vinyl in the sixties---compare it to the economy--back then? you received posters, free fan club admission, blah blah blah...now? you get a plastic case and a disc that costs possibly 20 cents. And we KNOW how easy that is.

somebody shove me off the soapbox.

Whenever I buy CD's more than one at a time, I end up only listening to one of them, the rest tossed by the waysaide.

Since summer, Ive bought:

Hard Candy and Across A Wire by the Counting Crows

So Much Shouting, So Much Laughter by Ani DiFranco

And I think that's it- and those, only because new releases by my favorites artists are pretty mandatory. My to-buy list includes Land by Patti Smith, Atom Heart Mother by Pink Floyd, Dilate by Ani, and Drunken Lullabies by Flogging Molly.

I just bought Big Shiny Tunes 7. I must say that it's almost as good as 5. Okay, it's even better than 5, if that's possible.

I just did a recount of my Cd's about a week or so ago, listing them in a customized Access Database. I am just over 400... and I know almost every song on every Cd. There is not a time when I'm not listening to music. (my newest fave is Disturbed's new one - "Believe". GOOD STUFF!)

Good choices on the Counting Crows Cds.  Not their best but definetly not bad.

i would never buy a new cd.  music just plain sucks nowadays.  i can't believe people actually buy into that crap.

i do buy used cd's though.  however i only own about fifty and they're all in the glove compartment of my car because the radio is evil and is nothing more than another convenient way of shoving yet even more endless advertising down our throats.  thank you corporate america.

in my bedroom i listen to kazaa.  it's the way to go.

after all, music makes the world go 'round.     real music, that is.

i'm so bitterly disappointed.  betty, i think it's time you leave now.

Christopher - you are right, that is a good album. I especially like songs one and two. Good album. As good as their first? I don't know. They are two different albums.... why compare the two?

Jen-

I disagree. I think that modern music mostly sucks, but then again, all music has mostly sucked at one time or anoter- there are the select few that we remember. I'd stick up for independent artists like Ani DiFranco and (some) of the other righteous babe artists- I'd also have to stick up for some of the newer punk bands like Good Charlotte, A Simple Plan, and whatever band does that 'swing, swing' song- No, they aren't like, Pink Floyd or anything, but they are honest and down to earth, while having some lyrical talent at the same time. How about Amy Mann, the Counting Crows? I don't know, I guess a lot of the 'modern' bands/artists I like had their heyday a while ago, in the early 90's- Jewel, Alanis Morrisette, Nirvana, Soundgarden, NIN, Blind Melon, Green Day's earlier stuff (I can't stand that poppy crap they sing now...) and so on...
