You know, I was going to call this topic "Fetishes." Then yesterday I found the second part of the meaning. Suffice it to say, "Fascination" took its place.

Anyway, what I really meant to say is that I have a fascination with hands. I could write 20 poems about hands, and still be able to be inspired by hands. I love just comparing hands, looking at hands, etc. I just have a fascination with hands.

The question is this; am I a freak, and the only one, or are there other people out there with... fascinations? If so, what are they?

There is nothing wrong about being fascinated by hands (unless you cut them off and make a collection out of them!)

Oh wait, Lori's in Calgary.

Was it because you found some 140 poems by me, alone, concerning, or using the word "hand/s"?  LOL...No kidding, you made me go look, because, I, too, have a fascination for hands...and have wrote of them several times...

For your [hopefully] reading pleasure...

The fetish thing, that is for adult, and only when I am really drunk.

I find myself using the same words alot
"shackle" used to be a big one, I love the sound of the word.
Being male, lust/desire is always one. It tends to creep into my poems alot.
Also music, poetry, the sound of certain words. I find myself spending a week on one line, changing cos it doesn't sound right.... oh yes and my own sanity. Well more questioning it than being fascinated
by it.

Nothing wrong with being fascinated with hands. Nothing at all.

My fascinations? Hmm.. bones/veins, prostitutes, my boyfriend, Frida Kahlo, Tori Amos, Sylvia Plath, fanatics/serial killers/stalkers, Daniel, sexual pleasure, nature, and people (love and hate, you know). Oh.. and myself, but that's a given.

(%) because it's just so special to all the little faery dolls

I'm fascinated by balding men. John Malkovich has always been a favorite of mine. I think it began with 'The King and I'..sigh. I wanted to be Anna and dance in that big dress (though knowing me, I'd end up with it in the corner and I'd be dancing in my ruffled Victorian bloomers).

All sorts of music

chapstick- I love soft lips. Especially having it.

Cologne- I always have to smell good. ALWAYS. I'm obsessed with it. If I don't smell good, I have to take a shower. Something I am always complimented on is my smell, now you know why.

You know, I just re-read this topic. I really wish I hadn't asked... LOL No, actually, I'm finding this discussion fascinating. MORE!

Oh, and Sunshine, I loved the poem, and no, I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it. I'm fascinated.

I use the word "fascinated" entirely too much now. It's fascinating.

Fascination
The practice of controlling another's mind psychically. Can be considered very manipulative and by some traditions a breaking of the Rede, especially when used to frivolously control people. Also called "mind bending" or "glamour".

I think, overall, you can sit me down and "fascinate" me with a good word.  Esp. it's origin.  I now and then go off on a hunt for very archaic words.  Yep. Words fascinate me, overall.

Blood?

I'm deeply fascinated by sweaty people...( But the clean sweat-ers...not the smelly nasty ones...)

Also, people's pronunciation of words etc. It amazes me how you can take one word and say it so many different was, or you can say one phrase and replace it with another and it still mean the same...Or how you can tell where a person is from JUST BY the phrases they say or ways the pronounce things. Example: My boyfriend says "IT's according to..." Where as I always say "It depends on..."  Some people say "The", others read "thee"...etc etc

*Ahem* Yes, well, anyway...

LoL I'm fascinated with.... Hmmm.... Fire. Fire is fun, but it's totally unoriginal. In no particular order, here are my fascinations *grins*
Fire, lizards, necklaces, Andrew, scarfs, fire, fractals (those things are SO AWESOME when one is drunk), RCMP in full attire *drools*.... fire... anything that's from the 60's and 70's will distract me so easily.
And food. Food is good. I could write about food lots. Especially if it's beef.

Heh... You know what my Lit teacher told me? We call the animal cow and the meat beef because when William of Orange took over England, he spoke french, so the people who took care of the animal called it the english word, cow, and the people who ate the animal said, "Oh! Boef!" which, in an English accent, is beef. Same with pig and pork. I guess the nobles didn't eat chicken.

Maybe I shouldn't believe everything I hear.

That was totally unrelated, and just brought on by the mention of beef. Sorry.

Oh, and a question. To anyone fascinated by fire, how long has it fascinated you?

You know who else has great hands? Tobey McGuire. I don't like HIM, but he has great hands.
