sigh...the weather is at it again...Now Hurricane Lili. The water still hasn't receded in many places from Isadore.

Here is a related story regarding what would be MY evacuation route:
http://www.nola.com/archives/t-p/index.ssf?/newsstory/iten29_2.html

Drat! The pictures were pretty dramatic, one showed the top OF A BUS only...it was submerged. And? It was also discovered during Isadore, that several pumping stations in my little corner of the swamp are not equipped with emergency generators. Which means, of course, if there is a power outage (and there usually is) we cannot even count on that to pump out the 1/2 inch of water an hour (inadequate, still but better than nothing) which generally saves our butts during a typical storm.

sigh...

AND? There were several breaks in the levee system--some so severe that local residents took it upon themselves to make "makeshift" sandbags to shore up the levee themselves--DURING THE STORM, in a desperate (and in one case, successful) effort to save their neighborhoods.

Obviously, there has been no time to address any of these issues properly.

AND? Just ONE month ago? WE SOLD OUR BOAT!!!

So...how about it? Can I crash at your place for awhile? I'll bring the beer...

Well, you could probably get to either my brother's or sister's house. On second thought, that probably wouldn't help much. Ther are in Slidell.

Good luck

That really sucks serenity.  Just when you want it to be over, more and more comes your way.  I have a little blow up boat that I usually fill with beer at picnics, your welcome too it.  Beer and all.

Sure - Come on up... The weather is perfect - and the water in front of my house has to rise at least twenty feet before I'd consider evacuation... BYOC...

Heh K, we have a few spare rooms in my place,
drink cabinet is a bit dry at the moment but
they are about million pubs and off-licences in this country, two to every person or something crazy like that. So your welcome here for some Irish hospitality, best in the world

Sweetie, I'll take you in, with all of your belongings, IF you bring a LITTLE rain with you, please?  We are SO DRY...[how dry ARE you?] that it would take all of Isadore & Lili to make up the difference of our three year drought....

Pack up the kids and the animals and come on over...leave G there to watch the water rise.

Be prepared though - it's probably drier here than you've EVER seen it before.

hugging sharon? you don't think I'd call it an ESCAPE if I brought HIM????

rofl..

you guys are great. And the storm is a couple of days away, but we are preparing--we HAVE to--there is still rubbish waiting for garbage pick up from the folks who were devastated last week...and? not too much for me to do? I saw "lili" and left everything right where it was---so? just have to board up again if she does indeed show up for some infamous N'awlins hospitality.

But now? the kids are frowning at me...OH.

MUST BE SUPPERTIME.

see? life DO go on....

We have four computers. We can let you use one. In fact, you can use the one in my room.

Karen,
PLEASE come to MY house!
I could use some help settling my neighbor down!
She's at it again you know, now worse than ever.
I may be talking to you all via JAIL very soon!

Smiling at the love here.

I wish I could run like hell---but? looks like we are staying put again.

True, we never know what will happen but the forecast looks hopeful...with a hopeful skim to the left of us. Unfortunately, what is good news for some is bad news for others.

I must say too, I am very impressed with the community effort here--there is a lot of giving going on---but it's still heartbreaking to see some, in certain areas, who are not even dried out from last week...one guy? showed a five foot mark on his wall where the water was last week...and said? "The damage is done up to here. (with a shrug) If it goes farther than that? (another shrug) It won't matter to me. We didn't lose our lives--just everything we own. Can't lose that twice." He had no flood insurance.

So...just my lil update.

Tomorrow will tell.

Love to ya all...and thanks, just for all of the "feel-good" responses...yer all wonderful. (shaking my head here, it's impossible to explain to others how comforting you all are)

I DO get the most interesting offers of sanctuary!

and trying to suppress---oh what the hell? I may be underwater soon---

So? Does that come with a cherry? bwahahaha..

(evil me)

One would THINK I'd be contrite right now...
sigh..but actually? I just got this in an e mail from my sister...in the same situation as I---she said, "You want to tell them how we deal with the weather? Show them THIS."

ROFLMAO...
